Guns N' Roses – 14 Years Lyrics 20 years ago
Actually your all wrong. It's actually a song hitting out at critics who called them an overnight success and who say they would just be a flash in the pan. 14 years refers to the time spent as "the beggar" and "the thief" and as "as the dog... they all tried to beat" (possible referring to jailtime) and of course as "the dealer hangin' on your street". Basically all the shit the band went through before they were successful. The second verse refers to "stupid girlfriends" and parents who think they won't last long. The last verse is about the lies printed about their past (If they knew half the real truth what would they say) and the "last four years of madness" since the release of Appetite For Destruction when they became successful. At a 1991 concert in los angeles, axl introduced the song by saying "This is for all of those who, have the impression that we're any form of an overnight success, this is called 14 Years."

Guns N' Roses – Get In The Ring Lyrics 20 years ago
This is a great song, especially the intro. Incidentally Mick Wall claimed that what he said about Axl in Kerrang was true. Basically some member of Motley Crue (i think Vince Neil) said something about Izzy. In an interview with Mick Wall Axl responded by saying he want to kick Vince Neil's ass although the language he used was significantly more vulgar. Anyway Mick Wall went over it again with Axl before publishing it in Kerrang and Axl OK'd it. Immediately it caused all sorts of controversy and Vince Neil challeged axl to a fight at some awards ceromony. Axl then denied he had said it and then criticised Mick Wall in this song. The song is basically about the media who make money by printing lies and then kids spend their hard-earned to read these lies about the bands they love. Ironically, Axl not only sung lies in this song but didn't care much about the fans who paid hard-earned money to see them play but had to wait hours before Axl turned up. I still love him though coz he's so fucking talented.

U2 – Beautiful Day Lyrics 20 years ago
Bono has said in a couple of interviews what this song is about. Its about this friend of his who worked at his computer all his life and hardly ever went outside or met people. Then, he was diagnosed with Cancer and given something like six months to live. He decided to quit his job and go outside and see the world and meet people, and possibly even became more spiritual. Amazingly, the doctors cured him and he never went back to a computer again. I suppose the beautiful day is about the day he first left his computer to go outside. Incidentally this song and the album or no where near as good as the older stuff in the late 80's/early 90's. Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum and Achtung Baby are still their three best albums.
