this is a very simple love song. more than simple, it is trivial like all songs on their new album. the whole album has absolutely nothing new, let alone creative. this one sounds a great deal like a mixture SEEMANN from their first album HERZELEID - for that one has the same melodic lyrics - and SPIELUHR. i am sorry but REISE REISE really sucks. |

in the original context of THIRTEENTH STEP, which was basically a concept album dealing with drugs and addiction, the song PET was meant to be sung by a drug to the addicted person - it had nothing to do with keenan's son. if you read the lyrics with this in mind you will see that it makes perfect sense. here the lyrics are given a political meaning. it is about how george bush would like to get the people of america to stay out of any politial business and to let him act like he pleases since he cannot defend or justify his actions anyway - because they are firstly simply not right and therefore unjustifiable and secondly because mr bush's ability to express himself is more than clumsy. mr bush is the father singing to his son, the people of amrica. "step away from the window/go back to sleep" means don't look at what is going on outside. it is not your concern. mind your own business and go back to sleep. sleep is here seen as a state of unawareness. the government declares this attitude to be right and necesarry to protect the people of their enemies, trheir demons and of the voice of reason, the voice that tells the truh about mr bush's highly questionable decisions. |

i am quite sure about the meaning of this song. there is a woman suffocating most probably because of drug abuse and maybe she is choking on her own puke. anyway, that is why she is turning blue as the aftermath of a little too much drugs. while she is dying, someone watches her and that person is probably on drugs, too, since he just stares at her finding the blue color of her face beautiful. |

| this song is about a case of cannibalism that recently occured in germany. somebody put an ad on the internet in which he was looking for somebody to eat and he found somebody. they met and the cannibal killed and ate he other one. the lawsuit took quite a long time since the victim actually was perfectly ok with the fact that he got killed and the judges were unsure whether to convict him because of murder or not. in the end i think he was convicted and got a life term. in an interview with rammstein i heard one of the guys say that he actually thought it was better to eat someone you know and who agrees to be eaten than to kill and eat an animal that has never been asked if it wanted to be killed. | |
