Simian Mobile Disco – Audacity of Huge Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Thanks for the posting these. I was a little curious as to what some of the things were. Your '?' line is: I got the sunset you know I always got sorbet |
The Knife – Heartbeats Lyrics | 17 years ago |
@HoldenC i think you missed what i was implying. the point of my previous post was to provide fact that jose covered the knife instead of the other way around, not to declare when they became prominent. i don't exactly agree with that statement anyway, since the idea of prominence is really dependent on where you live, as you suggested. |
The Knife – Heartbeats Lyrics | 17 years ago |
aight, just to (help) set this straight, from wikipedia: "The [Knife] became prominent in late 2005 when José González covered "Heartbeats" on his 2003 album, Veneer." anyway, i've listened to this song more times than just about any other in the past couple of years. i have yet to get tired of it. the beat is a perfect example of one that you can dance or chill to. |
The Knife – Pass This On Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the first time i heard this song, i wasn't that big of a fan...but holy shit, i love it now. it took me a little while to get into how karin sings on this one. the steel drum synths sound so real and electronic at the same time. amazing. |
Initial D – Running in the Nineties Lyrics | 18 years ago |
lol, this song |
The Knife – Heartbeats Lyrics | 18 years ago |
damn i love this song. i listened to it waaaay too much last year, but it never gets old at all. |
The Faint – Symptom Finger Lyrics | 19 years ago |
well this song is fucking awesome. it's on a snowboarding movie called afterlame by robot food, which i never really got into cause i love afterbang so much (which has agenda suicide on it). but damn, i watched it the other day, and i cannot stop listening to it. sooo underrated. makes me want to dance like a fucking crazy fuck. |
Spoon – I Summon You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i can't believe no one has commented on this yet. such a gooood song. |
Anadivine – The Timid Gentlemen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i've looked these lyrics up on a couple of other sites, and they all have: "i'm the only thing you know you wanted" but it sounds like something different is sung...? i can't tell exactly. zoo is fucking awesome |
Sufjan Stevens – John Wayne Gacy, Jr. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
totally with you attractivecousin. i didn't know who he was, but after listening to this song, i had to look him up. such an interesting story. i really don't know what to make of that "i am really just like him" part of the song. i guess it's just that every single person has a/some deep dark secret that they don't tell anyone. still, what an amaaaaazing song. probably my favorite off of illinois. |
Sufjan Stevens – Flint (For the Unemployed and Underpaid) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's based on the town of flint, where gm fired 30,000 employees. see michael moore's roger & me: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098213/ |
Sufjan Stevens – Seven Swans Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i have a live set of sujan. he performs this song and says that his father was burning trash in the back yard. eventually the whole yard caught on fire, and out of the smoke he had a "vision" of seven swans. not arguing, just saying that's where the idea/name came from. |
Anadivine – Adding Insult To Injury Lyrics | 19 years ago |
no comments on this song yet? i love the way this song starts off (and zoo for that matter). so energetic and driven. |

Sufjan Stevens – That Was the Worst Christmas Ever! Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this song is fucking AMAZING. captures every feeling i have about coming home for xmas (mainly just the feel of the song, not just the lyrics). reminds me of many days past when it snowed and school would get cancelled. i think it's "nothing feels right" for the last tline... |
The December Drive – None of the Above Lyrics | 20 years ago |
got these from a blog post made by dave. i can't wait to hear more of their newer stuff. |
The Shins – New Slang Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this was the first song i ever heard by the shins. it was on a snowboard movie (tb9 or tb10...can't remember which)..heard it like 3 years ago. such a great song. i honestly can't believe that so many people hadn't heard of them before garden state, but i must say, that the song fits very well into the movie. |
The Good Life – Album of the Year Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"she said she’d never seen someone so lost i said i’d never felt so found" how i long for that feeling. kasher knows how to do it. |
Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #2 (Laika) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i didn't know this at the writing of my first comment, but laika is the name of the dog sent into space by the russians with no intention of retreiving her back to earth. i can see how that ties in to the song... |
Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #2 (Laika) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i think it's about a much older sibling that causes trouble and is torn by growing up and his family. "it's for your own good it's for the neighborhood" perhaps moving out and getting away so that no one wil have to up put with his mischief. "when daddy comes home you always start a fight so the neighbors can dance in the police disco lights" domestic violence maybe. damn alexander needs to calm down. that's just my interpretation, but still a very wonderful song. |
Arcade Fire – In the Backseat Lyrics | 20 years ago |
what a beautiful song. arcade fire is so awesome. |
The Shins – So Says I Lyrics | 20 years ago |
great song. just from watching the video, which is very good, i figured it was about communism and/or civilization to a certain point. |
Gatsbys American Dream – Epilogue Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i have the lyric book in front of me take your knife out the blade is deep in my back but it's not the first time can we figure a way to bandage the wound your misguided soul is playing the fool nurture your ignorance beware of betrayal which lurks in the hearts of all don't cloak the animosity living in a continuing soap opera where you are the coroner and i'm lying in the morgue you've slithered and strangled me i know i know i've done the same let's start again they leave out one "but it's not the first time" from the booklet, but this is straight from that |
Gatsbys American Dream – Recondition, Reprogram, Reactivate Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"almost human now STOP" fucking great song |
Time Spent Driving – Leaving Lyrics | 20 years ago |

The December Drive – buffalo wing diplomacy Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics | 21 years ago |
on another note... by Shannon on 02-06-2002 @ 11:32:19 PM yeah it was written for syd barret...he was a mad drug user and died a few years after "leaving' the band. syd barret did not die a few years after "leaving" the band. get your info straight. |
Mock Orange – Brake Lights On Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this is the first song on the record play, and when i first heard it, i was blown away. i love the part when it comes in right after "seems like." aaah |
Mock Orange – The City Call Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i love that part too, especially with the light background vocals and all. beautiful |
Mock Orange – She Runs The Ride Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i agree. mock orange's guitar work is so amazing. |
Further Seems Forever – The Sound Lyrics | 22 years ago |
i can't wait for the new album either. when i first heard about this song and pride war being out, i didn't hesitate to listen to them. i have to say, i'm very satisfied with the sound each song has. i absolutely love the moon is down. it's just plain amazing, but yet it's also nice to hear new stuff from a band, and i agree with what you guys are saying. jason will definitely make further seems forever even better than before. they are just plain awesome. |
At the Drive-In – One Armed Scissor Lyrics | 22 years ago |
relationship of command has to be one of my favorite cds of all time. after listening to it through and through, this has probably become the best song to me. it's just so energized and laid back at the same time. |
Finch – Letters To You Lyrics | 22 years ago |
this song carries so much meaning to me because my girlfriend and i have a long distance relationship. we don't go to the same college nor do we live in the same city, but she's all i think about everyday |
Thrice – Trust Lyrics | 22 years ago |
this song is so dynamic that it feels like a true relationship. with the parts where he's screaming, it reminds me of when you feel so swelled with love but you're angry because you don't know what to do next. at "when this frame fails me," it's the opposite--you know just what to do and everything is serene. i also agree with holkeyesf that too little or too much of love is bad. you put your life into someone else's hands when you want to trust them. |
