Bright Eyes – An Interview with Conor Oberst Lyrics 20 years ago
there is a humorous sketch by Mark Twain called "an encounter with an interviewer." it is presumably mark twain being interviewed, and he decides to have a bit of fun with the reporter. There's a part where he starts talking about a twin brother of his who drowned in the bath tub when he was two weeks old, and how his family wasn't sure which baby drowned. The entire interview is hilarious, and Twain is obviously having fun with his audience by portraying an overly eccentric genious. Likewise Conor is employing satire to make fun of critics and such who take him too seriously. This mock interview was most likely provoked by overl literal comments such as "sorry about you brother."

Coldplay – The Scientist Lyrics 21 years ago
I think it's about a person who is very logical and mathematically minded, and a relationship has just ended. He's trying to figure out how it could be possible, since he did everything right. It just doesn't make logical sense to him that this perfect relationship could end. The laws of physics can not explain it. The song is saying that love is a more powerful force than the physical laws that hold the universe together. That's pretty heavy.

Coldplay – In My Place Lyrics 21 years ago
yeah, it's unrequited love. or the thing where a relationship would work out if only the timing was right. Even if there are certain reasons it can not work, he will wait for her nonetheless because he believes there is no one else worthy of his waiting.

Coldplay – Clocks Lyrics 21 years ago
also I think it's about being confused and not being able to make sense of one's life at the present moment, but some event years later will spark a realization and everything will make sense, it might be a person in your life and it becomes clear then what their purpose is.

I agree with il collare. Sure, we've made a lot of mistakes in the past, but regrets don't get you anywhere. Remember the minutes of our life are ticking away so make the most of what time you have left on Earth and make it beautiful. There are plenty of things to keep living for if you just look around.

Coldplay – Spies Lyrics 21 years ago
it seems to be pretty clear that chris is talking about paranoia. The paranoias of everyday life, "spies" are the things that we fear. It's about things that haunt us in dreams, and they can't touch us, because the only escape is waking up.

Jets to Brazil – Orange Rhyming Dictionary Lyrics 21 years ago
it's generally believed that "orange" is the only monosyllabic word in the english dictionary without a rhyme. (a match) When Blake sings "I got her name from an orange rhyming dictionary, its assumedly a book of blank pages, so maybe he's feeling that he's never going to find his match, this girl that the song is about is more of an ideal. He sees her as an angel, so it comes as a shock when she does something out of character, so I guess to sum it up it's about how one initially feels about someone and then they reach the point of debating whether they should see things realistically or find comfort in illusion. But thats just how I'm feeling right now, I could be way off on this!
