Shihad – All The Young Fascists Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The start of the song (first couple of lines) makes me think of the ways that people limit themselves by being closed-minded. |
Kelis – Milkshake Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yes, it's about blowjobs. There was a very interesting science class last year in which my biology teacher attempted to explain the song to an extremely dim-witted girl who he'd caught listening to it in class. |

Shihad – All The Young Fascists Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It seems to be about simple acceptance of your situation, not questioning the world around you (fascists - rigid/unquestioning?). The song says to me 'don't let anyone else fuck up something that matters to you without you doing something to stop it' |
Shihad – The General Electric Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i just got home from seeing Shihad live (and free too, lucky me), they played this second or third and completely flattened the place with it, great song live the whole 'to walk on water you'd sink in the ice' kinda has the same ring to me as 'dont let your life get in the way of living'. its a kind of, why do you need to complicate your situation to get something that you already have |
Shihad – The Metal Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I get the impression it has to do with stereotyping ie. "believe in what you want to be " "that in a young country we're free to be what we want to be " it also explains why its called 'The Metal Song' |
Ben Harper – Mama's Got a Girlfriend Now Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, great song, i love the slide I'd say the meaning is kinda obvious |
Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines" i love that line, its the ultimate 'its a bad idea but i can make it sound good' lyric |
Antiskeptic – More Than Kind Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My ex used to say that this song reminded her of me for some reason, i've been thinking the reverse recently, especially the "i cried myself to sleep i wished you well and it seemed to be so true a reminder of all that's left i wake up cold and sing to you, so" verse |
Green Day – She's a Rebel Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great song, reminds me of someone i know. i agree with underrated, its great how he gets three syllables (probably spelt wrong) out of the word. I'd never listened to green day much before but my sister gave me a copy of American Idiot and its been playing ever since |
Seether – Broken Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I dont care who says otherwise, this song rules. It's the reason i bought the album and ever since i learned to play it i cant listen to the intro without my fingers twitching. and on another matter, how can anyone that thick listen to something as complicated as system of a down, especially given your apparent inablility to read into lyrics or connect to any other human being. You're giving good music a bad name you dimwitted whiny bastard |
Seether – Fine Again Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The video's interesting, the 'random sentences' seem to be what you dont think of when you just see someone and ignore them. and Chris Hodge, you're a dickhead |
Live – Where Fishes Go Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Just adding on to the last comment, Live say that water in their songs represents human consciusness, a connection to everything that feels safe with that in mind this song becomes more about taking risks in the hope of trancending the ordinary |
Live – Lightning Crashes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
on the 'awake' DVD interview he says that the song isnt about life or death, its supposed to reflect the endless cycle of energy in the world, in that nothing really begins or ends |
Live – Lakini's Juice Lyrics | 19 years ago |
on the DVD that came with 'Awake', Ed says that the whole album was written in Jamaica under the influence of a huge amount of alcohol, in that context its easy to see the overindulgence side of it. the music was an old idea that they had and he wrote the lyrics to have a lot of contrast to it As another matter, does anyone know what the guy with the lard is actually doing in the video? |
Live – The Dolphin's Cry Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It isnt a song about any particular person, its about any person who you ever sleep with and realise how connected to them you are, the one thing i've heard him say live about this song is that it is 'not about dolpins, unless the dolphins happen to be fucking', in which case i assume that it would have the same meaning for them |
Live – Stage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This feels like a semi-hedonistic song, about being somewhere in your life that makes you seem more alive than the people who are 'ranting and raving this beauty away', a place that, once you find it, you can't leave. try listening to U2's "gone" it gives me the same impression |
Live – Sparkle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I pretty much agree with Kryptonicbomb, the song seems to be about finding what you've been looking for. Not because it came up and showed itself to you (miracles) but because you started feeling it |
Live – Simple Creed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The song is really saying, 'hey, you!, theres a void of love in your life because you keep making the wrong choices'. It's muscially intense because the idea is to make people sit up and take notice |
Sting – If I Ever Lose My Faith In You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My girlfriend of 11 months broke up with me about 4 hours ago and i've spend most of the time since listening to this song. it's amazing, listening to sting while depressed puts a different shine on a world that just stopped shining |
Randy Newman – Short People Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The ridiculous thing about this song is that he obviously doesnt mean it but after it was released midgets protested outside of anywhere he was performing |
U2 – Vertigo Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The most important thing when looking at this song is to realise how easily U2 can make their music do anything they want. theres no point complaining about them making uncomplicated music since it always evens out in favor of the deeper stuff that their fans are used to. also the 'turn it up loud captain' reminded me of 'Edge, play the blues', a similar oddly inserted musical stage direction. the song, like elevation, makes more sense if you don't think about it than if you do. |
Randy Newman – Rednecks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song would be much less funny if 1) We were not ruled by rednecks 2) The song wasn't so accurate 3) we're in a whole mess o' trouble |
The Rasmus – Back In The Picture Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song makes me think of a few of years ago when i had been around the wrong people for far too long and became really messed up. i kinda drifted for a while before i met people that i actually fitted with. |
Sting – Desert Rose Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Apparently when writing the song Sting couldnt communicate what the lyrics meant so he gave Cheb the music and he ended up writing almost the same thing in arabic |
Yellowcard – Way Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song always makes me thing of leaving school (substitute for any other long-term institution if you want). particularly in the first verse theres a feeling of power from not just wanting to be somewhere else but actually going through with it |
Placebo – Sleeping With Ghosts Lyrics | 20 years ago |
anyone else think this sounds like oasis? |
Evanescence – Bring Me To Life Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I first heard this song when i bought the daredevil soundtrack on a whim. i had a listen through it, got to this song and thought 'hmm good stuff, wonder if ill hear anything else by them' the next day the song is out on single and its everywhere |
U2 – Sunday Bloody Sunday Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"This is not a rebel song, this is Sunday bloody sunday" (under a blood red sky) what more needs to be said |
U2 – All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i had "All I got is a red guitar Three chords and the truth" engraved on the back of my guitar, it reminds me of the whole point of music |
Matchbox Twenty – Bent Lyrics | 20 years ago |
firstly this is one of my favorite songs ever when i saw them in concert they opened this with Rob saying 'when we toured with this album we discovered that in europe 'bent' means gay. and this was during my 'tight pants and eyeliner stage'. so all over the place there are these posters of me in tight pants and eyeliner with 'bent' in big letters underneath' |
Matchbox Twenty – Back 2 Good Lyrics | 20 years ago |
They losed their Melbourne show last year with this and Rob said that this was their 'Drinking and Cheating song'- whatever that alludes to |
Matchbox Twenty – Angry Lyrics | 20 years ago |
they pick some great songs to open albums with don't they |

Oasis – Morning Glory Lyrics | 21 years ago |
the intro to this kicks ass, all the effects and bits of other stuff jumping in and out and then goes straight into a kickass chord progression |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Truth Is A Whisper Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this song makes me think of all the propaganda and sh*t thats being thrown around by all the governments to try and jutify everything they do- "Truth is a whisper only a choice Nobody hears above this noise " and how people need to think that somone's telling the truth "Can you teach me to believe in something?" |

Ramones – Beat on the Brat Lyrics | 21 years ago |
anyone heard the version of this U2 did on the tribute to the ramones album |

The Goo Goo Dolls – Broadway Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i saw the goos live last year and john said "this next song is about the place i grew up and all the f*ed up people there" |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Broadway Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i saw the goos live last year and john said "this next song is about the place i grew up and all the f*ed up people there" |
U2 – Gone Lyrics | 21 years ago |
it seems to me to be about fame and realising how different he is now from when the band was just starting and the sacrifices made to get there "you wanted to get somewhere so badly you had to lose yourself along the way you change a name but that's okay... it's necessary and what you leave behind you don't miss anyway " |
U2 – With or Without You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this is my favorite song ever watch the emotion bono has when they play it on the rattle and hum dvd |
Powderfinger – My Kind Of Scene Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this song kicks ass it seems to be about realising that life isnt going how you want it to (but it's not my kind of scene oh yeah footprints on the other side ) but that there is still time to change the way its going (the end is in sight to working...,I'll watch from the other side) |
