The Cinematic Orchestra – To Build A Home Lyrics 8 years ago
@[dibo:6447] Beautiful interpretation. Don't listen to old "BBOGHEAD".

If you must hold on to anything, let it be the fruits of those seemingly permanent harvests.

Chairlift – Amanaemonesia Lyrics 11 years ago
My dissemination of this fantastic song:

While I can't confidently decide what or whom this song may be referring to (I do have a few ideas) I can present hopefully a logical explanation to some of the lyrics.

The first verse may be about how we as individual people have lost of way in life, focusing on unimportant matters. Leave alone the Geminis may be referring to the actual band members although I can't really discern the meaning behind this verse.

"No one could not agree... They've come for you and me"

I suppose pretty self-explanatory although what or whom they may be referring to is up for debate.

"Their boats are full of flames"

To me this line seems to mean that they pretend to offer ways out, however upon closer investigation it is just a dead end, as in their boats are full of flames. Something along those lines

"They paint the grasses green"

As in whomever/whatever fabricates an 'idealistic utopia' (whether that may be with lifestyle etc.) which is actually artificial and superficial and devoid of actual substance. The grass isn't greener but 'painted' to become more appealing.

"Repeating history"

Again self-explanatory. It has been done before numerous times. Which when used with the chorus ("Is it amnesia?") makes for a convincing argument that even though they (again whomever/whatever they're referring to) has done this numerous times, people still seem to forget somehow.

"They don't say what they mean"

Self-explanatory. Sugarcoat, manipulation, deceit etc.

"Is it amnesia amanaemonesia?"

Asking whether it's just plain amnesia.

"Mistaken for magic?"

Debating whether everything that was forgotten was just amnesia or perhaps a magic of sorts that caused the initial amnesia.

"Silver hours, silver hours becoming a habit? (chasing the rabbit)"

This line seems to mean to me like chasing after an idea or nostalgic moment or perhaps chasing after a dream that is unattainable and in doing so becoming less focused on the actual issue and becoming somewhat preoccupied chasing a "rabbit".

Will continue later... :)
