The Tallest Man on Earth – Fields of Our Home Lyrics 6 years ago
These are just some spontaneous ideas while listening through the song.

The lines: So you honestly believe in me
though I wake up every night
and I've been dreaming of a second rush
while the first one leaves your eye

Sounds like his partner fully believed in him and the relationship despite him having doubts. This commitment added to his already existing guilt of having the doubts in the first place. The dreaming of a second rush could mean a new love, while the first one begins to fade.

The fields of our home could be the union created by the two and possibly refers to both their physical and metaphysical connection/creation. If they had never seen though the doubt/hardship, they would have never made it home or back to the sanctuary of their connection/relationship.

There was always racing on that crossing street
where you'd land on quiet heels
will there ever be a sane time to
let them know how walking feels

I believe the traffic on the crossing street is the street that one would have to cross/re join if it was decided to leave home. Leaving the sanctuary of love and back into the hard real world. His leaving lover quietly re-renters this life. He wonders if there will ever be an appropriate time to ask how her new life has become "how walking feels". It is very easy to relate to this line. He still cares deeply about this person and wants to know how her life is but feels that it is not ok to ask.

Great song!

"You didn't see me, I was falling apart. I was a white girl in a crowd of white girls in the park. You didn't see me, I was falling apart. I was a television version of a person with a broken heart".

I believe the "television version of a person with a broken heart" is him referencing how cliché heartbreak can be but never the less completely relevant to everyone. By saying he is a television version of broken hearted, he is acknowledging the cliché in a self deprecating way but also stating the pain is real and authentic. The crowd of white girls in the park is another way of admitting and acknowledging how typical and predictable heartbreak can be but also hurts deeper than almost any other pain.

Just a few thoughts!

The Lumineers – Angela Lyrics 8 years ago
At first glance it seems to be sort of a coming of age, leaving your home town kind of story.

There also may be references to mental illness. Most specifically in the lines: "Did you hear the notes, all those static codes
In the radio abyss". -Schizophrenic auditory hallucinations can be triggered (or more intense) when the person is hearing white noise. Also the lines about the "wars in your mind" and "wilderness inside" may generally reference the persons battle with the onset of this mental illness, thinking that the problems lies in the town itself but ultimately finding out that this problems will follow her. The wilderness being the new unknown territory her brain has created. She may also be experiencing paranoia: "The strangers in this town,
They raise you up just to cut you down". These "strangers" may only be perceived by Angela as cutting her down.

Anyway, this is a great song. I like to think the narrator loved this person and is seeing them flee from her problems both physically and mentally, hoping she eventually finds "home" or peace. Pretty tragic.

Thanks for reading!

To me, this song could be about growing up and out of your home town. The lyric: "All the L.A. women
Fall asleep while swimmin'
I got paid to fish 'em out
And then one day I lost the job"

This could be about a loss of youthful beauty and no longer having things so easy.

"Tunnel vision" focusing on the future and living your little life in between you future plans.

Just some thoughts, great song!
