I think he's talking about bats (specially vampires); men are disgusted by them and try to eliminate them. Vampires (the animals) live by drinking blood. 'Haemoglobin is the key'- now free I can fly: 'my feet don't touch the ground'.

I agree with 'eyehaverabies'. I just sent corrections to for the song 'Distortions' and there are still oddly pronounced words that hardly make sense. The first verse of the song was inspired, almost plagiarized from Velvet Underground's 'Candy Says'. That particular song was inspired by a famous transvestite known as Candy Darling.

I really love this band; it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. This particular song is, musically speaking, the best they have done. I have 100 Grandaddy songs and most of them are above average.
