The Magnetic Fields – All My Little Words Lyrics 12 years ago
I'm not saying this is based on the novel, "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov because I wouldn't even attempt to get into the genius workings of Stephin's mind. But this song really reminds me of it possibly because it is my favorite piece of literature or maybe because of the reference of butterflies.

The Mountain Goats – Broom People Lyrics 12 years ago
I tend to listen to this song mostly in the winter, and it absolutely tears my insides to shreds every time. The comparison of the dreary day-to-day routines & loneliness with the freedom & happiness that comes with finding someone you can share memories with is beautiful.

Beautifully worded.

This song definitely evokes the story of Lolita. I can't believe this song isn't more popular. It's tragically beautiful.

The Magnetic Fields – A Chicken With Its Head Cut Off Lyrics 12 years ago
I kind of interpreted
"We don't have to be stars exploding in the night
Or electric eels under the covers
We don't have to be anything quite so unreal
Let's just be lovers"
as a realistic view of what the narrator thinks "love" is, that things didn't have to be over-romanticized, it could just be a simple, but very apparent and a very real relationship.
But this may just be me being biased and trying to make this song more romantic in my head, as I oftentimes do. :)
