Blue October – A Quiet Mind Lyrics | 12 years ago |
So I dont think it is entirely about a specific mental disorder. Rather its just a man who has issues: indecisive, restless and resistant. But if that person can calm him mind and give him peace then he knows he will truly love her. |
Stars – He Lied About Death Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Well we all suspect it's political. and by the way the punctuation is incorrect in the beginning. "What gives you the right to fuck with our lives?" A devil born in paradise <--Bad person born into a wealthy environment A liar loves to lie <-- politician? Keep watching your back Killers always have killers on their track <-- responsible for lives Keep watching the sky 'Cause you might get lucky again I hope your drunken daughters are gay! <-- taken literally to someone with daughters You are the shadow of fear! You scare the love out of here Like an ape in a cage Small white man in a rage <-- short, white politician Mellow suit, mellow smile <-- politician Limousines down murder mile <--wealth Limousines down murder mile Watch the devil's at play! Drain the bottle empty <-- alcohol? California today <-- california has now been taken over by this man Tomorrow it's you and me But it can be narrowed down to a California based politician who is seen as responsible for peoples lives, perhaps a war. That is if you take it as literal as many of the lyrics seem. jumping back and forth between allusions and literal translations. |
The XX – Crystalised Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I like that, but I wonder- since most songs written have to do with relationships and "Crystal meth" is put in the first person that the drug is alluded to oneself. 'I am like crystal meth to you' |
Regina Spektor – Field Below Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i have to laugh at this but really, her lyrics are about imaginary people, on both sides of the song. who is singing and who it is being sung to or about. which is why shes so amazing. she often takes herself out of the music. she becomes anyone she wants to be when she sings. |
Feist – La Sirena Lyrics | 12 years ago |
you listen to it, sometimes so much can be said in so little words. |
Bright Eyes – Four Winds Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The allusions in this song of a biblical reference have been taken and somewhat rearranged to create a different poetic vision or interpretation. In reality the whore of babylon represents false religion, the four winds, as seen in revelation, are held by four angels at four corners, the winds destroy leaving no part of the earth untouched. The four winds and the whore are two allusions that are repeated in the song. Possibly its mankind's corrupt religion that is governed by Satan but collapses if he were to vanish. Im not sure of the history on this song, whether or not Conor wrote it and his religious views. Especially since many do not interpret the book of revelation and its metaphors correctly or at all itd be hard to think that he would see it this way. But possibly this is what the song refers to. Basically that the corrupt religions run by Satan, which in his view could be what the world views as Satan or evil, destroy every part of the world. The verses are fillers, basically adding to the central theme which is expressed in the chorus. Id appreciate feedback. Maybe on Conor Oberst's background and knowledge or whoever actually wrote this. |
