actually... in the rcorded album version it's "i waited 8 long months" but in the written version it's "it took her 8 long months"... i have the Paramore: Riot Guitar Sheet Music book, which has a page of the lyrics written up in their original Hayley Hand-Written form |

i think it's about this classic vindicative love story... you see it all the time, this nerd, emo, loser, etc. is in love with someone who's dating the popular kid, right? but the nerd, emo, loser, etc. knows that they are better for this person than the popular kid is(Hayley obviously being the "underdog" if you will). The person of interest is obviously not enjoying the relationship with the popular kid, and the "underdog" feels a righteous vindicative love for the person, and knows that they'd be happier with them. |

this song is obviously about how a divorce can impact a child, there no need to question that... but my greatest annoyance is how exactly it impacted this "child". A lot of people thing it's about how she didn't believe in love, until she met this one guy... but i think other wise. Why would she say "the ONLY exception" if he changed her view of life completely? I think that what she's talking about is a girl's (common but not the same with all) tendency to fall in love to easily while a guy doesn't... she says she'd "never sing of love if i does not exist" people think she's saying that her parents' divorce made her not believe in love. but i think that she means she'd going to take it slow, like she's going to wait until she knows for sure she's in love before she goes and sings about it. I think it's more specific, as in she's not going to sing about love if there's no love IN THAT PARTICULAR PLACE. She's going to be safe and not fall in love too easily as not to have her heart broken easily like what happened to her parents. But this one guy being "the only exception" to her caution, she's going to sing about love, even though she thinks there's a doubt that she really loves him, like she really just wants to love him FOR NOW, maybe more permanent if she finds that love, but for now, just for now. i know what you mean, to me and a few other Paramore fans i know this album isn't like any of the others... i personally dislike it, the whole brand new eyes album is too slow and soft, i mean there's Ignorance and Playing God and Brick by Boring Brick but every other song is too slow, and WAAAAAY too soft-core... |
