This song, I initially thought it was about Samson and Delilah’s story too. But hearing it again, my take is that’s about a could have been/ an almost relationship that couldn’t rise above barriers. Maybe Regina is speaking as a person before Delilah— “I loved you first” “The History books forgot about us, the Bible didn’t mention us, not even once” “We couldn’t bring the columns down, we couldn’t destroy a single one” And the song is like a “tribute” to a type of love like that, and a sort of sadness that it was like it never happened, because it was real and beautiful. Haha idk, just my take. Beautiful song. |
