That is so true, what you say. That's what the song is about I think. Not about relationship. Allthough I think Mika won't mind that people think that the song is about a relationship. He just writes to process things that happened in his life. But he sais that his album 'life in cartoon motion' is about his childhood. I tried to interprate all his songs differently than other people, trying to fathom what Mika has experienced during his childhood. By now, I analized the songs: Grace Kelly, Lollipop, My Interpreation and love today. Grace Kelly is a "screw you-song" to the music industry. I also found a sexual interpretation and another one about Mika that does everything to get the attention of a girl he loves, and a last interpretation about his childhood. He never fitted in, though he did everything he could, still they kept on bullying him. Lollipop, that is a song he wrote for his sister, so she shouldn't begin sexual relationships too early. I found a second interpretation: Lollipop refers to innocence. It could also be a moment that he remembers from his childhood. That his mother (or someone else) warned him one day for bad girls and relationships. The only interpretation I had with 'My Interpretation' was about a break-up. But I'm sure there is another meaning. Cuz this album is about his childhood. And that has nothing to do with falling in love. His second album is about his adolescence, about first falling in love. So now I'm searching 4 the real meaning of 'My Interpretation.' I see that you're good at interpretate songs, so I ask you: Have you got an interpretion for that song? I'm just trying to see trough Mika's life. Cuz he seems so interesting to me. And than there is Love Today. What should this have to do with his childhood? |

I 'fear' that Mika goes to bed with a lot of people. Here are some things that proove that for me: - He writes a song for his sister that she shouldn't begin too early with sex. (It means that he had sex quite early, or else he wouldn't warn his sister that it's bad, right?) I have some speculations about his first time. He led a secret life, you know? At night, he crawled out of the window en joined 'the night life'. That was his secret life. I'm not kidding, he said that several times in interviews. Well, or he spent his first night with a hooker (I hope that's not true, cuz that would be really sad), or he just met a slut and had sex with her, or.. I don't know xD - He writes the song 'Love Today' in which he says: 'C'mon guys, have sex!' - "I don't put limits on those people who I share the bed with" (I don't know how he said it exactly, can't find the qoute on the net, but he meant that he would have sex with a girl as likely as he would have sex with a boy.) But to me, it sounded like he has a LOT of sex. - "My favourite date: A date where you don't have to have sex with that person to know that you will see them again." Yeah, that's quite obvious, isn't it? Well, if what I think is true, than I hope he has safe sex. And that he goes to bed with me to xD Why wouldn't he? he doesn't set limits!! ^^ |

yes, the message is quiet weird. Comon guys, just have sex! when you see a hooker, well than, go and have sex with her? xD OOOoooowkay... But, you know, Mika was asked once how his favourite date looks like. And than he said: A date where you don't have to have sex with that person to know that you will see them again. (I think he said 'them', not 'him'.) First, I didn't knew what he meant with that. First I thaugt it meant that he knows that he only wants to see someone again if the sex was good, and when the sex was bad, he didn't want to see that person anymore. But than I realised that it means that his favourite date would be a date that's based on a good and interesting conversation and not on the sex afterwoods. |

but that's so contradictory! Because in lollipop, he like sais: Wait as long as possible to have sex? and two songs later, he sings: Everbody, have fun, have sex! Free love baby? That just doesn't make sense you know? xD I'll have to ask it himself =P |

Okay, here is my interpretation and a whole analysis of the song, sentence par sentence I said, sucking too hard on your lollipop, or love's gonna get you down, -> When Lollipop means innocence, then this means that, when you suck too hard on it, your lollipop will get smaller and smaller. Then suddenly it will be too late and your lollipop/innocence will be gone. And than you'll have to think about hard 'grown up stuff'. -> When it's sexually, it means that when you are too obsessed about your love, love will get you down when the relationship ends. I went walking in with my mama one day, when she warn me what people say, live your life until love is found, 'cause love's gonna get you down. -> Here his mother gives him some good advice. She sais to him that he shouldn't be too focused on love. That he just should live his life and be happy with what you have. Don't search for love, cuz you know what they say: when you search for it, you won't find it, and when you stopped searching for it, than you suddenly find it! When you keep on looking for love, it will get you down, cuz it wil always be dissapointing and forced. Take a look at the girl next door, she's a player and a down right whore, Jesus loves her, she wants more, oh bad girls get you down. -> Watch out for the girl with ho you start dating. Think twice if this person is the right choice for you. But can anyone explain me the 'Jesus part? Cuz I don't understand that part. What the hell has Jesus to do with all this? How can jesus love her if she's a bore/whore? Mama told me what I should know, too much candy gonna rot your soul, -> Too much innocence isn't good too, because than you never grow up. -> Agian: when you are too much focused on love, you will forget to live, love will rot your soul. if she loves you, let her go, 'cause love only gets you down. -> this I don't really understand. is it his mother that protects te girl by saying that he should let the girl go? Because love will get her down? Or is she protecting her son by saying that love will only tet him down, so he'd better not begin with relationships now? Take a look at the boy like me, never stood on my own two feet, now I'm blue, as I can be, oh love come get me down! -> I'm really sure about what this line means: He's ready for his first relationship (or at least he thinks he's ready for one) and he wants to figure out if it's true what his momma said. He never stood on his own two feet, that means that they had never given him te chance to experiment and find those things out himself. Now that he's got the chance to experiment and to find out whether what they say is true, he's really willing to find out. By saying: Love, come and get me down, he challenges the quotes of his mother and thinks: come on love, I'm ready for it, let's see if what they said is true! |

Yes, me too I never had a boyfriend before and I was 17. I hated myself because I never had one before. I thaught I wasn't normal. Thaught I was too ugly. Thaught I needed love to be happy. Everyone said that's not true, you're pretty. You just haven't found Mr/Mrs Right, you'll see. You shouldn't be thinking you need love to be happy. (Actually they said what Momma said in the song) Few months ago, I had my first love. (Okay, it was a girl but that doesn't matter now)Our relation lasted no longer than a week. I don't get it.. I agree that the song has different connotations and that you can look at it from a sexual perspective. But I don't understand how you can look at it in that way. Of course I understand the 'suckin' on your lollipop' part, but I don't understand what it has to do with your explanation. I just don't see it. Can you - or someone else- maybe give a song-analysis? I mean like sentence per sentence? In the sexually way and in the other way where you say that lollipop is a metaphor for innocence, because I don't understand that either... |

Wait a minute... Are you saying that Mika's mother, Joannie Penniman herself was recording her sons show with a videocamera? And that se also filmed the audience? And that she filmed you two dancing and singing on his songs. And that se TALKED to you personally after Mika's show? Noooo, you must be kidding me? Ö Hey, you seem like a big fan to me. Do you know the name of his father? I only know his father is American and that he was a war prisoner for a long time (donno if that's true, just red it here somewhere). But NEVER his name is mentioned anywere. And Mika never mentiones his father too. Why? Would he like his father? or would his father like him? |
