XTC – Dear God Lyrics | 13 years ago |
There is no alternative meaning to be found in this song. It's clear as to what it's message is, and debating that the writer actually believes in God is like a belief in god himself. No evidence or proper, logical theory or reasoning behind it. It is simply you trying to make everyone out to be following what you believe. What song meant to be praising God points out all the things wrong with both God and, indirectly, a belief in him, let alone ends with "If there's one thing I don't believe in it's you, Dear God". It being directed to God is only meant to give it more power and meaning. Personally, I don't believe in God, but if I did, I wouldn't worship a baby killing, disease creating, unwanting-and-unwilling-to-fix-any-of-it "Lord", even if it meant going to hell. |
XTC – Dear God Lyrics | 13 years ago |
If there is a God, I'd sooner worship dirt then him. "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" We don't believe in God because it's unlikely for him to exist both according to science and by claims made by the bible itself that clearly are untrue. Also, God seemed so talkative 2,000 years ago. What happened? People stopped believing mad men and liars claiming to have met god, and suddenly he's no longer talking? Hmmm... I'd say use logic to put 2 and 2 together, but I know that won't happen. You'll simply say some bullshit like "I believe in god because I have faith (in something that has no background other then man's word, and absolutely no proof)" Also, don't confuse this song as a dedication to God. It's dedicated to stating why the writer doesn't believe in him. |
Starfucker – Girls Just Want to Have Fun Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Best version, Period. Also, the meaning is obvious. And yes, I'm a guy. This isn't a girl song BTW |
Electric Owls – Magic Show Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I actually think it has little to nothing to do with magic shows. I think that was just used as a theme or something for the deeper meaning of it. |

Michael Franti And Spearhead – Say Hey (I Love You) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i typically hate popular sings, but i LOVE IT! one of few new popular songs i actually like. |
Cage the Elephant – Ain't No Rest For The Wicked Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The meaning seems obvious. Its saying, in it's simplest form, "life is hard" The hooker, the homeless man(from the sounds of it, he sounds homeless), the preacher, they were all doing bad things just to stay afloat in this world were all that matters is status. I love it :D I love songs that tell stories. |
Elbow – Grounds for Divorce Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i dont think it refers to that exact toilet, um i mean pub, but to really any pub. most pubs are under ground. or at least slightly under ground. that one is just famous for previously being a toilet also make note that a pub does not serve as good protection against a zombie appocolypse(see "shaun of the dead"[2004] and the documentary "why pubs aren't safe in protecting against the zombie appocolypse" [1989]) |
Elbow – Grounds for Divorce Lyrics | 14 years ago |
actually, the last line means the opposite, it means hes come to terms with his death, and accepts that all things die. as in, someday he'll be dead and drinking with the seldom seen kid. |
Jonathan Coulton – Re: Your Brains Lyrics | 14 years ago |
ur retarded. that was called a "joke" maybe u should learn about them sometimes. |
Greenskeepers – Vagabond Lyrics | 14 years ago |
never was a story as good as gta 4s captured in a song so beautifully. "came such a long way to see u, now i wish u were dead" refering to nico coming to us to see roman and america, and finding out all those great lies about beauty, wealth, and money in liberty city(new york in GTA) couldnt be more false. the line "Got me on the run, loaded up my gun, Blowing up the spot, hiding cuz I'm hot Fire is my friend, marking where I've been, Committing every sin, and do it all again" refers to how Nico gets suked into a life of crime when coming to liberty city. |
Greenskeepers – Vagabond Lyrics | 14 years ago |
agreed, mostly. its more about his story and he came along way to see america and "i want to shoot u down now for the things u did" refers to him being mad at roman for telling him all those lies that brought him there. |
Passion Pit – Sleepyhead Lyrics | 14 years ago |
wow, now thqat i tink about it, ur prolly right |
Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics | 14 years ago |
my thought was it was about how when ur powerful, everyone sort of has to like u because they are afraid of u. but when ur no longer powerful, they no longer fear u and u find out they really didnt like u at all. |
Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think it has to do with being powerful/popular and everyone "likes you" but then u loose power or become unpopular(or whatever the word for that is) and finding out that being powerful/popular was the only reason they liked u. |
Supergrass – Caught By The Fuzz Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Amazing song |
Supergrass – Caught By The Fuzz Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I'm pretty sure it's about a 15 year old kid, who bought marijuana (blow) from a drug dealer or a some random. The cops caught him while he was still high(on a buzz). They take him to the station, and lock him up until they can question him. While in there, he talked to a man who was also in there. He told him he'd be better off telling them everything he could, rather then lying. Although he doen't know who exactly sold it too him. The cops tell him pretty much the same thing. Basically they are going to make him wish he never even left his house that night. They take him home to his mom. She tells him how disapointed she is with him. If i got what he bou8ght wrong and it was some other drug, then sorry. im not that good with drug slang. |
