Cornershop – Brimful Of Asha Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Thanks for posting that, cabanastyles! And just to follow up on "I confess the other references are strange to me.", I can shed light on one at least: Trojan Records was (is?) a famous reggae label based out of the UK--I assume they had a big influence in India as well.... |
Neil Young – My Heart Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Kurt Cobain quoted Young in his suicide note ("It's better to burn out than to fade away"), and it allegedly struck Young hard with disappointment, anger, frustration, and sadness. Having lived most of my life being completely misunderstood, I still can only imagine the horror that such a "shout out" would do. Cobain seems to haunt the entire "Sleeps with Angels" album. This is one of the loveliest ballads of almost-dead hope (and resolution to find it even though it appears to be nowhere) that I’ve ever heard. Gorgeous track. Thank you, Neil. |

Grandaddy – The Go in the Go-For-It Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the lyrics contain a few references to earlier Grandaddy.... "A broken but pretty mess" = A Pretty Mess by This One Band (early E.P.) "Farewell to thee" = "Fare Thee Not Well Mutineer" (rare g'diddy track) also, I think the line is "Despite the fax I sent".... |
Elliott Smith – Little One Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i doubt it's about crack. we can agree it's about addiction, i guess. The one thru seven part strikes me as an unfinished lyric to be replaced later, a la "Scrambled Eggs"-->"Yesterday". Sadly, the finished verse never arrived :( |
Pixies – Planet Of Sound Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I'd like to stop smoking pot, but I'm just too terrified of becoming a self-righteous git who cannot spell "gets"..... |
