it seems like tweedy is writing from the perspective of a fan. but where i differ from the above interpretations is that i think the fan knows that the frontman is lonely and feels for him. when the fan catches his eye the fan realizes that the frontman can be just as lonely up on stage as the fan is sitting at home with no calls. the fan is empathizing with the frontman. the ironic twist is the line that says, "I play you're song just to hear you say that....You, you're the lonely one." which means that the fan listens to the wilco song "the lonely 1" which means that tweedy is both the fan and the frontman with whom his is empathizing. interesting. great song, great band. |

great job bustinloose and others...great stuff. good catch on the reference thing. especially loved ethans comment about the red hair, very nice man. and 3ncryption, i am not sure what you say is correct. i know you were just taking a stab but something tells me that the band is not really involved in fighting against "A Comparison of Global Climate Policy Architectures" though i could be wrong. as for muffinman, you are totally wrong dude. maybe you dont' know anything about Biblical hermeneutics but there are such things as double-fulfillments in Scripture. Good Hebrew writers used it all the time. stuff like type/antitype and dual-application, any of this ringing a bell in ya head? it's like in mark 13 where Jesus is telling His disciples about the end of the world. obviously i agree with you that i believe He is talking about the destruction of Jerusalem by Antiochus Epiphanes and so on. but i ALSO believe He is talking about the end of this earth. when He talks about the heavenly bodies falling from the sky in v. 24-25 i don't think that happened in AD 70. all that is a quote from Isaiah which makes everything even cooler. Jesus using the prophecy of a prophet of the OT in His own double-fulfillment prophecy for the end times. what great stuff. i agree with others that anberlin should not have tried to replicate what they had going with *fin. that was just too good to top. but i did like this song. |

this is an awesome song. the other part of this song "...we'll meet in the end" is also good. these guys are great. too bad not more of their lyrics are up and people don't really know about them. well, i suppose they will have to remain low profile and everyone will just continue to miss out. |
