ok, i read down to killstar's comment and got annoyed by all the previous, except for "dutch courage"'s post. joeeeyyy- buddy... its about himself... NOT another person. listen to their latest album, youll find that out quick. he didnt want to bring it out into lyrics like he was talking about himself, cus he wasnt ready to tell people that was the way he felt. Paranoia is hunting you All these dirty looks, they are right on cue You're full up to the brim with that "he said, she said" trash You exist behind your keyboard and then you're gone in a flash --------- he thinks all his friends conspire against him, all his family, all his acquaintances. when he talks to someone over the internet, he feels like he cant be touched by their dirty looks and peculiar inuendos. but once hes with someone, he feels lost. I'm utterly disgusted with the path you trek as inebriated as you can get off your latest paycheck I'm at a loss for words here I hate to break this you, but being a coward is not a legitimate career ---------trying to get himself to stop thinking its all a conspiracy, he REALLY knows that when these thoughts of conspiracys come into his head that theyre not real(insecurity). turns to drinking to help with social skills. -and i really love this verse We were born and raised the same way so what gives you the right to say? At least I'm not a liar, At least I'm not a liar, at least I'm not a cheat, at least I don't care what these god-damn mindless people think of me -------when my mom caught me drunk and high when i was about 16, i said, "mom, im still a good person.. i mean, i dont steal, i dont cheat, i never lie about anything." this song actually helped me realise, wow was i wrong. my mother was raised the same way she raised me. she tried drugs and stuff, but i was full-out gettin busted by the cops for possession, twice in 1 week to be exact.(rcmp followed me after the first time). - when i thought about how pathetic it was to be drinking alone, i would tell myself "at least im forgetting about what people think of me" Ten bucks says you don't have it in you to conquer fear and quit believing what they tell you to You are careening shamelessly into oblivion where you will live alone with your chemicals and gin -------the chorus, either he's taking a friends perspective on his own situation, or hes literally telling himself to smarten the hell up. -the songs all about fighting with insecurity and thinking of ways that might be able to fix you.... maybe get a career, that could keep your mind of these things... its a self-help song. |

to people saying its a self explanitory song - yes, but youre missing one key point on one key line. "i cant take another breath without feeling the REGRETS of my jealousy" He's not certain his g/f is cheating on him, but hes got THE biggest feeling that she is. But when he asks her about it, she throws it in his face because i mean what girl wants to be with an overly jealous guy? so she gets pissed and says "THATS SO STUPID! I CANT BELIEVE YOU WOULD THINK THAT!" then he regrets feeling jealous.. the rest of the song pretty much explains what he REALLY wants to say to her, when initially he said "babe, i think i got a problem.. one side of me is telling me youre the best thing that i could ever have, and the other side is telling me you hate me, you hated me from the start, and youre conspiring against me to get me back for something that im not even aware of. doing it all with my friends, dirty crackheads from the club, and LOVING it." -i know that from experience with my last g/f, trust me, hes messed up in the head just like me. insecure, depressed and pretty much all around psycho. :) p.s. im pretty sure its "hush hush LIPS you give".. you know when someone says "shhh"... thats a hush.. she just gives the lips though so he doesnt hear the "shhh" part. love the spill, make me feel like a normal person :) shots of love all around |

only read over the lyrics once, but i thought about them alot more times than that... i think it could be about a certain feeling someone might be trying to get out so they could be happy. we all know everyones got certain feelings that they hide. but if you hide them too long, they can tend to eat away at you. in saying "come on, come out" this person might be having almost a battle with themselves, trying to get this feeling out, knowing that there may be consequences for doing so. most of the song seems to focus on how happy the person will be once this emotion is out in the open. kind of a hopefulness that things will be okay. however, "keep it inside, it all goes by" could also be a hopefulness - take care of the emotional issue yourself, i mean, it IS yours to deal with... and in doing so, people dont worry about you and they move on. its a catch 22 - keeping the emotion to yourself, you could really miss out on alot of things in life. in letting it out there is a fear of loss. possibly of yourself. - or, it could just be about enjoying the outdoors with someone you love :) [a blanket unfolds, a blanket to lie] ----------------laying on a blanket [the pieces of gold they light up your eyes]--------stars reflecting in eyes [and now we're alone and now we're alive]----------alone with the one you love outside watching the stars... how could you feel more alive? :) |
