i love this song because it's a very different take on a fallen angel.
it's obviously a divine being of some kind who fell from grace and is trying to make up for the wrongs that put him in that situation. (i say him because it's voltaire's voice portraying the character voice and it sounds like a male ting to screw up a good deal and try to make up afterwords.)
just in case any feminest nutjobs want to tear my face off.

the video has alot of 9/11 undertones.
The plane hitting the towers, the kid who made it happen being dragged out of his house and shot (saddam), and so on.
i have taken the empty walls to mean the walls of the towers that still stood after the planes hit, and the towers fell.
looking at the song from that viewpoint then the song is saying that we should look beyond what happened on that day and not simply attack the first scapegote that the perpertrators of the crime throws our way.
the line "I want you to be left behind those empty walls." means that the mastermind behind the attack should be dead instead of the people who were in the towers.
that's what i think at least, could be wrong. |

i think it's talking about the mormon religion. because there's a story in the book of mormon about a generation of people swearing not to fight and burying their guns in the ground then an army comes to take the town for whaterer reason and the youngins who didn't make that promis to god dig up the guns and fight in the nameof the lord.
(by the way, not mormon but i like to be informed of other religions before i make blanket statemnts about them.) |
