I figured that "like O, like H" was simply an exclamation "OH" of sudden comprehension/realisation. (Gut instinct, as it were.)

You can definitely see what Steven was describing as his influence in this; the thoughts & feelings of somebody contemplating the cause/consequences of a major motor accident.
But as far as literary allusions, does anybody thing there is a bit of JG Ballard's 'Crash' in there too? (perhaps to cover the mindset of people not in a clear state of mind when on the road?) |

From the way I see it, it looks to be a commentary on the stagnant 'alternative' culture (a theme present throughout 'blood death ivory'.
In this case, a music scene filled with posers and insincere 'artists' who care more about image than substantial music. |
