The only "idiots" on this forum are the ones who called another an idiot because his logic or what the song meant was "wrong". As far as the song goes it IS about the "revolutionary" soldiers in africa in the first and second verses. These "Revolutionary" forces destroy villages kill everyone in the villages in the most gruesome of ways (dismembering with machettes, de capitation,) they rape and pillage thru any village they discover. The kids are brainwashed to be heartless as lupe says. He focuses on the acts they perfom but not in an entirely explicit manner. They brainwash the kids with this "candy" wich contains cocaine or some form of drug. They believe that they are invincible. His general msg seems to be "look at wats goin on in the world. These kids are uneducated mass murderers. For christ's sake, they can't even read! Or spell!" How dumb is this. Its incredible the evils that go on in third world countries. This song is off the hook!!!! In my top "10 greatest Jay-z songs" list. Pretty straight forward. Compares his music to drugs (check Rap Game Crack Game-In My Liftime Vol. 1) a good idea to stand trail for spreading his music. He compares his co-workers and label A&R's to crime connects. One great metaphor filled with quotables and a good message underlying. |

The line at the end of verse to is "don't cry it is TO BE..." This is in my top 5 hov songs. I just have to reiterate about the word play and metaphors. GENIUS to say the least. the snoop sample in the chorus along with who I think is nas (which is left outin the lyrics) really sets the tone for the song. Snoop-"Dear God, I wonder can you save me?" Nas-"Illuminati wants my mind, soul, and my body" Snoop-"dear god I wonder can u save me?" Nas-"secret society tryna keep they eye on me" Snoop-"Dear God, I wonder can u save me?" Nas-"Illuminati wants my mind, soul, and my body" Snoop-"Dear God, I wonder can u save me? I can't die....." The beat sucks u in, I find myself vizualizing everytime I hear this song. Tho I do think late head means O.G.s. Who says u have to be dead to learn the dangers of the game? Smart ppl learn from being observant, plus, not everything that is dangerous will kill u. I feel the song is about the side effects of the money making in the drug trade. U get into the game to make money, but since its illegal u find out that money isn't the only side. There is a dark side. The dark side is D'Evils. These are all the things that need to be done to keep the money flowing Since they are all "tryna win". ie eliminating the competition by kidnapping the competitions baby mama to get to him. This song is deep. Its one story. The flow of the story is very good once u understand it. He uses unusual phrases instead of common phrases. It makes the story a bot difficult to follow. At times it seems a bit vague, especially cuz he swithces back and forth from these complex, unusual phrases to everyday lingo. I could break this song down line for line and eliminate all of the metaphors and complex phrases. It will turn into an easily understadable story, but where's the fun in that. |
