The Smashing Pumpkins – Zeitgeist Lyrics

don't know if this helps bet here are two definitions of "Zeitgeist"
the spirit of the time; general trend of thought or feeling characteristic of a particular period of time.
The general moral, intellectual, and cultural climate of an era; Zeitgeist is German for “time-spirit.” For example, the Zeitgeist of England in the Victorian period included a belief in industrial progress, and the Zeitgeist of the 1980s in the United States was a belief in the power of money and the many ways in which to spend it.
maybe he's saying there isn't any 'spirit' in this age and maybe he's looking for someone/thing with hope or honesty i.e. a "real soul."

Radiohead – 4 Minute Warning Lyrics

I was in the Madrid train bombings five years ago. Whenever I hear this song thats all I can think about. It seems so strange but this song describes exactly what I felt. When the bombs went off it nocked me of my feet and I just kind of sat there stunned. At first I couldn't hear or see anything and then it all just kind of came into view and it didn't seem real. four minutes was probably how long it took me to realize that I was awake.
If you want to get a feel of what this song means think of it from that perspective. I really hate this song its just to real for me. |

Colin Hay – Beautiful World Lyrics

If that analogy were true then I'd say that our world has reached the age were we go off on our own and fuck everything up. Then again I am a pessimist, but that's just because of the way the world is. Hey maybe god doesn't intervene because he doesn't want us to wait for him to do something, maybe to make us more proactive. So yeah maybe this is "as good as it gets," idunno

Weezer – My Name Is Jonas Lyrics

I think it's a little more than childhood memories. It's more about that transition you go through when you finally grow up. At some point in your life you get the feeling that you don't really have a home anymore. Even though you still have place to put your stuff and sleep you still feel like your missing something. That sense of security you felt when your were young is gone. It's like being homesick for a place that isn't real. I think he was feeling this when he wrote it, but maybe that just me. |
