Seems like all of the things That you gave your mother Have all gone up in smoke -- This sounds like the guy who broke up with her was also bad to his mother. Or how he de-evolved into a bad guy. All the things going up in smoke signifying the change and ruin. Also, that Shirley implies that she feels compassionate towards his mother being left behind/burned by him because she also knows what it feels like. In the middle of the night You don't know what I'm thinking But still the stars still sparkle and shine -- There is no communication between them, but she still loves him. This song holds a personal meaning to me. I met my boyfriend on the internet, where we'd talk all night, both of completely stoned. Things progressed to the phone. Where I'd touch myself for him and he'd like it, but sometimes make fun of me because he's not the most serious man out there. I'd make him lose all concentration when I started talking dirty and touching myself. We eventually broke up because I was a cheating whore and long distance was really hard for me. Not to mention that he started seeing another girl the last week we were dating. But I was his downfall because he loved me so much, in a way that he never loved any other. However, he was malicious after the break up, telling me that he never cared about anything I said, that it was all useless bullshit. Adn I'd come back to torment him, making him miss what we had. It finally came down to him choosing between me and another girl. But he didn't know what he wanted. He totally fucking chose me, by the way. And if any of you assholes are like, "Okay, we don't need to your life story," you can go to hell. This song reminds me of my boyfriend, and not in a bad way. We live far away from each other and I'm going to buy the plane ticket and he'll pay me back, therefore owing me money "for something we need." Counting to July 1st, yanno. .. counting down the days. And I really do count the seconds so it makes it seem longer and tiresome. We want to be with each other, but have to take it slow and "beware" because of all the complications of our lives. The last verse is about them in a hurry to be with each other -- "I know it's overdue" And after being apart for so long, they know that when they get together, they won't be able to sleep. Just make love and talk. That's just how it makes me feel. The rest of you guys probably think I'm full of shit. |

Don't you ever mince meat? Don't you ever mincth meat? → Cut off my tongue is a metaphor. for not being able to speak, but in dreams you have to have a reason for things. Which is why she can't speak in the dream -- because of her own tongue-tied self her subconscious hasto come up with a reason why she can't speak in the dream. I think the play on words with "miss me" and " mince meat" is Regina being funny and quirky in the way that if her tongue were cut off, she would fuck up on words. |

Could be a double connotion, dually meaning to show a dark side. Whether it is the singer or the other person's dark side, I am unsure. rumours have started that you are in love again, rumours that are completely unsubstantiated → Self-explanatory. Rumours are flying around town about an affair. come on and say you're sorry, real sorry for the trouble that you caused. → Singer wants lover to apologize and continue their relationship. The way it's phrased though, makes the singer sound almost desperate. can't you see all of this love?→ Singer is obviously still all the way in love with other person. we are not evacuating this house; we don't believe in you and your wrecking crew → Singer won't leave the relationship. They don't believe the rumors of the affair.
