Between the Buried and Me – Swim to the Moon Lyrics

lukeryan hit the nail on the head. theres oldschool fans who dont like to see them becoming more progressive and less hardcore/death metal. i usually love progressive anything so this is a step in a great direction if you ask me. not to say i don't like the old stuff but all music evolves, you can look at bands that have been around for decades (rush comes to mind) and the early albums still have the same feeling while being totally different. i hope btbam is still for that long and i look forward to what direction they decide to go with next! |

that's odd, i also get the dream theater vibe and i have only heard a few tracks by them because they are cheesy pretentious fucks who i dont think are worth my time.
but as a contradictory aside, let's not be overcritical of this song. it is most definitely a btbam song and it will certainly grow on you and, if you are lucky, you will learn to love it as much as i do. this song is intense and has an amazing ending, it finishes this album really well.
also i'm sort of a hopeless fanboy who will probably always love whatever they release |

removing the perfect application of these lyrics to the band's own struggles, i can apply this song to any bad situation in my life (usually a bad relationship) and it helps me so much. though things dont always work out like i plan (like we plan), one day it will come together, forget whats happened and move forward. |

Circa Survive – Kicking Your Crosses Down Lyrics

i'm ignoring the religious aspects of this song to make my own meaning out of it. i guess thats the point though. heh!
anyways when i first listened to this album i wanted it to be about falling in and out of love, so i just had that mindset throughout the whole cd. this is far and away my favorite song on the cd, so i just applied every lyric to my thoughts and my life.
the intro and first verse are basically your love. you find him/her. keep it close, don't let it get away.
whatever "god" throws at you, or takes away, you will overcome by togetherness. mud being viscous but it will dry and become hardened.
kicking your crosses down is too blatant a blow to religion for me to take it that way anyways.
i think of it as, no matter what anyone might have though, we'll prove them wrong. it doesn't even have to be about love, or a relationship. a personal struggle or belief even.
and in the end, nothing but disappointment
fucking powerful song. |
