In a YouTube video, Scott Avett said this song is about a lesson he learned on February seventh and wouldn't explain further. With that said, I believe this song is about Scott possibly being unfaithful to his wife or at least thinking about having an affair. He has all of these thoughts and fantasies of lust but eventually, sort of, wakes up from this "dream" and realizes that exactly what he wants and needs is right in front of him (his wife). "I'm rested and I'm ready to begin" could either be Scott telling himself or his wife (maybe she found out about his infidelity) that he's now ready to spend his life with her. He strayed off track for a little but he's back and he's "ready to begin" again. |

My thoughts on this song were actually kind of opposite of what southernpunk777 said. I think this song is about the singer having an affair with someone else who is also married. The singer wants to stay with his mistress and the mistress feels the same. They kill their respective spouses and just go back to each other and continue with their lives together. THe chorus kind of gives it away for me. The first two lines are about his wife's reaction to him cheating. The bucket of water and match metaphor meant to me that she wants to keep trying with their marriage but he keeps putting it down and is giving up. That's my take on the song. |
