I downloaded "New Shoes" for free on iTunes a couple of months ago, and then got this album last week… and I can't stop listening to it.
This song, especially, is one of the better ones, IMO. It's a classic come-back-to-me type of song that doesn't sound too cheesy or cliche. I haven't heard him live, but from what I've read, he's supposed to sound even better in person. Only 20 years old and already this good – pretty impressive.
BTW… some other great Scottish bands / artists that I can quickly think of would be: Travis, Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian, Snow Patrol, Teenage Fanclub, Franz Ferdinand, Beta Band, Idlewild, Jesus & Mary Chain, and The Average White Band. |

Fantastic NP song – The climax and chorus at the end give me chills every time I hear it. It's actually my 5 year-old daughter's favorite tune right now… she asks to listen to it in the car nearly every day on her way to school. Wish I got to hear such great tunes when I was in kindegarten. |

Ryan Adams' pulls off this honky-tonk style tune about a man who gets burned by his lover one too many times, and finally leaves decides to leave her – Only to regret doing so… even though he knows she's probably already moved on to her next victim. This song would be at home in any trucker's CD collection. |

"I guess the mailman was drunk"… Classic line by Ryan Adams. (Oh, and the last line to that verse should be "Now it lays in the state where you don't live no more.") Caitlin Cary's voice meshes perfectly with Ryan's on this tune. Great song off a great album. |
