The Magnetic Fields – The Horrible Party Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Nope, it's "moles." Moles are known to burrow underground, you know. Besides, it rhymes, whereas "wolves" doesn't. |
Chairlift – Amanaemonesia Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The lyrics are nonsense. The video for the song is nonsense. The dance choreography in the video is nonsense. Even the title of the song is nonsense. My theory: it's a song about nonsense. |
The Magnetic Fields – Zebra Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I love this little song, definitely one of my favorites off 69LS. I don't know if the meaning is obvious, but since no one else has commented, I'll offer my interpretation. It seems the song is basically about how "money doesn't bring you happiness". You can have all the material things in the world, all the pearls, the Great Pyramid, the treasures in Louvre (so that they all just seem like "tchotchkes" to you), but you can't stop wanting always more. The narrator in the song has worked her way all the way from A to Z, through all the possible things you can own, and now she wants a zebra. But when she has that one zebra, not even that is enough; she must have another. |

Amazing song. The lyrics here are a bit wrong though. It's "surrounded by self-consciousnesses", not "so I altered my self-conscious messes". It's "garden of puberty", not "garden of purity". It's "forest of lungs", not "forest of loves". |
The Magnetic Fields – I Wish I Had an Evil Twin Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love the idea of having an evil twin so that when I'd do all the bad stuff, they'd blame her instead of me. "All my life there should have been/ An evil twin" That's how I feel sometimes. What a wonderful song. |
Animal Collective – Penny Dreadfuls Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Such a beautiful, atmospheric song... ...about kids on a schoolbus? In any case, it's definitely my favorite song on this album. |
