the verse that starts with ," hey mr. merry man"...reminds me of the girl being used by a guy and she made him stop but she says that if she let him he would keep going. Overall this is a wonderfull song, pretty easy to pick out on the piano a very catchy tune and rhythm, very hip and precise. I adore the lyrics they are so deep |

| I think this songs is basicallly about the beginning of a relationship where on e of the people involved can't get close to the other and can't make it work because they cant' reveal who they really are. I completely LOVE this song! I've heard that it's from a poem called, "when blood and youth were warmer". It's an awsome song and I love the way the Hush Sound can go to two different extremes in their music. I'm not sure as to where the actual meaning in the song lies because I think it may all come from the poem. |

I know some of Vanessa's song have a hidden "sexual" meaning..I really think that this is one of them. It seems to me that the guy in this song is using her for sex. "i've been taking what you're giving"..she knows that he's a jerk and that she shouldn't be treated this way..but if it's the only way she can have this time with him, she' s more than willing to take it. "now I'm thinking I've been living, the fantasy of your sweet smile" the only thing she holds on to are the good moments..his smile is a fantasy to her adn she wishes she could see it more often than the "intimate" times..those few sweet little things is what she thrives on despite all the wrong doing..she overlooks it and..no offense to anybody out there, but "boy you swallow...." sounds like a bj.. that's just what a few people have told me after hearing the song...that verse sounds like a definite double-meaning. "oh, say you..." The girl knows that she is his "perfect little sugarbride"-she is so fragile and beautiful..and easy to break..one wrong word and she is destroyed because she has her heart so set on this guy and the person she wants him to be. she knows she's being played with, but doesn't care. |

I love the way her voice changes in the "love you...love me" part! It gives that line in the song an ENTIRE new meaning. To me she's saying that she's kind of jealous of all the "important" females in his life, maybe some really close friends that are girls who are ALWAYS around..she's just saying how much she knows that they love him and that there is nothing to worry about but the last part she's basically sounds like she's pleading to him.."love me"..like he doesn't pay her as much attention as he does them.. fairyinblacknwhite..that's an awesome interpretation..my thoughts exactly! |

I think this song is about the ending of a relationship..or maybe the end of a night together. ;-) It seems that the relationship was very complicated and she didn't get to show who she really was through it "there's some words I never told you, the sound rings out like the truth" The next verse is just saying to the guy, "if you could just see me now...for who I really am"...like the other person never took the time to see the girl inside. "as I sit here...." is basically thinking about the good feelings she had with this guy..she's still not over it yet and she hopes that they will be together again. so what do YOU guys think? :-) |
