Circle Takes the Square – Same Shade As Concrete Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i believe the song compares the christian message to drowning in concrete. eek. "The faithful say its beautiful, its god's will, let the flood swell on the loudspeaker sermons and a parish descending." there's also numerous allusions to salvation and such. if it's meant to be taken literally, i will be very confused |
Mew – Eight Flew Over, One Was Destroyed Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is just about having someone there to pick you up when you fall |
Mew – Am I Wry? No Lyrics | 18 years ago |
nothing really deep. just take the lyrics for what they are. |
The Postal Service – The District Sleeps Alone Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i'm too lazy to read the 6 pages to see if this interpretation is shot down... but it seems like he's visiting an ex-girlfriend in jail. "I'll wear my badge: a vinyl sticker with big block letters adherent to my chest that tells your new friends I am a visitor here:" a visitor tag at a jail? "a stranger with your door key explaining that I am just visiting" yup. sounds like a jail to me. |
Anberlin – Readyfuels Lyrics | 19 years ago |
bingo naive's got it. they're a christian band, and it's about a "hot" date in which sex was on the verge of happening. "Help me to wait on you " and " Can you wait for me a little longer/stronger?" make this very obvious. |
Arcade Fire – Intervention Lyrics | 19 years ago |
talk about the lyrics. please. i think this song is about death way people approach it. the soldiers cries at the prospect of death. people approach "fading" with fear. |
The Jealous Sound – Abandon! Abandon! Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song's about overcoming an obstacle and becoming stronger because of it... not sure what the obstacle (the burning mistake) was though.. maybe drugs cause a lot of their songs are about that. |
Further Seems Forever – A Blank Page Empire Lyrics | 19 years ago |
oh... not as deep as i thought :( disappointing |
The Weakerthans – The Reasons Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the dog metaphor is amazing... "How the past chews on your shoes, and these memories lick my ear"... other than that, it is just a good love song i think |
Further Seems Forever – Bleed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
hmm... i think this is Christ talking to us, and saying that his blood was sacrificed for us... ("this heart is yours, let it bleed") the whole thing sounds like Christ is talking to sinners right? |
Further Seems Forever – For All We Know Lyrics | 19 years ago |
they aren't Christian? listen carefully to their other songs and their lyrics seem to contradict your opinion collegeguy |
Further Seems Forever – Hide Nothing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
phrenchorn got it... sort of FSF is Christian, and it has a very valid christian interpretation... the "race" is one's walk with christ, and so we have to run the race "till that day" which would be his death or Christ's return i suppose... "and no one can take it away", refers to the fact that noone can take his faith away... kapish. it's easy |
Further Seems Forever – A Blank Page Empire Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think pablicious is the only one on the right track (assuming i'm write that is) hehe. i feel strongly that it's about living life without purpose, as he feels that many peolple do... and perhaps feeling suicidal ("put those hands away..") along with it... its' like life is so monotonous and one feels like there has to be a higher meaning to life. Check this out, "Sounds like a radio tuned to whitenoise softer, slowly softer" is a methaphor for a life without purpose... it is meaningless and just fades away... :D what do y'all think? |
Kids in the Way – Hallelujah Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a song from God's perspective... and the line: "I'm sick and tired of watching over you. Never knowing what you're gonna do." helps to show how God should treat us, emphasizing just how unreal his grace is... it's a lot deepr than i originally thought |
Amanda Rogers – Divide and Seperate Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about is about a strained father daughter relationship... the family tree reference makes perfect sense this way. It's about a broken family where the father is in the wrong... a sad song |
Tyler Read – The Light and the Glass Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's about how the superficial world around us -- the emphasis on beauty and figure and all that -- has put women under a certain standard, and how a girl struggles against that because of "scars", whether physical or metaphorical... it's a great positive song eh |
