Well yes this song is a totally a classic; strong melody, phenomenal harmonies, just awesome...and apart from some of you I thought Mariah Carey's version ain't that bad for a hip-hop mix! She made it her own and I like that. |

Another beautiful and powerful track from MG!! My concept of this song is: Earth talking to us. Never turn your back on the world you live in, take care of it and respect the world and others around you. Hold your breath before you talk cuz you may hurt people. Everybody can be good and also can be bad.

Possibly my all-time favorite track from Matthew Good! Simply because I was going through tough times when I first heard it and immediately identified myself to it. But those hard times were soon gone and that's when the magic of this song hit me like a brick again! Sooo damn powerful!! A life savor for me. A Very positive song with a fatalistic disguise.
The song seems very personal the way he wrote it. It seems he was going through some tough times himself and suddenly he had enough, he wanted to be heard. Matt was always concerned about environmental and political issues. He's obviously a very sensitive person and it shows in the lyrics. |

This really is beautiful music, empowered by one of my favorite canadian singer, Matt Good! The smoothness of his voice rolls through the words like water. Very emotional & powerful. As for the meaning of the words; It seems to be about the oppresion of society, how we are slaves to the machine, this system we so depend on but crushes us like nothing matters and how it all affect us at the end of the day (I open the door and theres nothin left redeeming...) |
