The Murmurs – Squeezebox Days Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Man, i can't describe how much this song means to me. It's so incredibly gut wrenching and honest, about people not wanting to be alone. I especially like the part that goes: And I don't even care if you don't love me. And I don't even care if you don't want me. Can't we just spend tonight together, so I got something to think about tomorrow? |
Projet Orange – If You Leave Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i love this part: I say hello to you, my friend I’m not the one you think I am You know I’m 16 and a half this year I could grow up, go insane |
Morrissey – I Like You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
one of the most perfect love songs. |
Morrissey – Driving Your Girlfriend Home Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i've never heard this actual song but reading the lyrics--wow. i'm not going praise morrissey and say "OhMGZ! HE'S SO GREAT!" but he proves yet again that he's an wonderful writer in this song. |
Nada Surf – Icebox Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i view this song as a long distance relationship, or at least that's what it means to me. "stay until you're sure that i'm asleep" [not wanting the lover to leave] "Just wait until tomorrow Bury me in sorrow Cover me in joy" [the lover leaving, and the person having to deal with different emotions after they're gone] "Every afternoon i wasted being mad at You The things I never said The things I can't say tomorrow" [wasting time before the person leaves and than realizing that they may not come back for a long time] "I'll have an eternity to think about tomorrow" [maybe as in i'll have an eternity to think about you not being there?] it's a stretch, but that's my perception. |
The Birthday Massacre – Happy Birthday Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i don't think it has to do with a murder necessarily.. it reminds me more of a newspaper clipping i found once about how this girl had a birthday party when she was in her teens, and these boys were invited to her party and raped her while the party was going on: I think my friend said, "Don't forget the video." I think my friend said, " Don't forget to smile." "You're a murder tramp, murder tramp", I think he said "You're a murder boy, birthday boy", I think I said Murder could mean as in murdering innocence. |
Antony and the Johnsons – For Today I Am a Boy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is such a beautiful song. i especially love their new c.d and the best part is that they're playing a show at the warhol museum next week! i haven't see them for 3 or so years. [giddly spreads excitement] |
Regina Spektor – Reading Time with Pickle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
great song. |
Regina Spektor – Us Lyrics | 19 years ago |
in my opinion, regina spektor doesn't have as much fame as the dresden dolls and her music is far and from them. The dresden doll's music isn't half bad...it's their [and everyone elses] cockiness about it that gets in the way. but anyways, back to the song, this song and video is so beautiful. It's one of her best on the new c.d. I can't wait for the dvd! |
Veruca Salt – Somebody Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Bawh, this song isn't that great. I think the Depeche Mode did THEIR song wonderfully...and then Veruca Salt came along and took all the sarcasm and bitterness out of it. |
Exile Academy – Put The Needle To The Record Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this one is my favorite one you wrote. |
Rasputina – Howard Hughes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is one of the few songs that I liked on their first c.d, Thanks for Ether. Like the above person said, it's pretty self-explanitory. It has a really good beat. |
Rachel Stamp – Hey Hey Michael You're Really Fantastic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
teenage sex. |
Rachel Stamp – Black Cherry Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song is so hardcore. |
Orgy – Stitches Lyrics | 19 years ago |
yay. everyone likes this song. |
Metric – Combat Baby Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song is so cliche. that's why i like it. |
Material Issue – Valerie Loves Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I first heard this song while listening to a Hole bootleg. It's so amazingly pop boyish that it makes me want to cry. Material Issue is THE pop band for the 90s and I'm pretty disappointed that they haven't gotten anymore recognition than this. |
Johnny Hollow – Gone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The cello in this song is so beautiful. I really adore this band and I wish I had their c.d |
Regina Spektor – Samson Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This reminds me of Deliah and Samson in the bible. It's like Deliah [excuse me if I spelled her name wrong] was trying to tell someone her view of their relationship. Samson had long hair and she cut it and was a notorious slut/whore in the bible. But according to this song, they really loved each other. She's trying to put everything that is right back together while everyone else is twisting them around. |
Hole – Jonnie's In The Bathroom Lyrics | 19 years ago |
best song to own on vinyl. it's like sticking your hand in a pile of shit. |
Hole – The Only Rape I Know Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's brutal. |
The Dresden Dolls – Mandy Goes to Med School Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I don't really care for this song much. I think they've done a lot of better ones, but my favorite line is: "put away that hanger honey" |
The Dresden Dolls – The Jeep Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's a beautiful emoish lost love type of song. I think everyone can relate to knowing an ex-lover by some object, whether it be a car or whatever else. |
The Dresden Dolls – Christopher Lydon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's written about the radio man who is popular in Boston, where the lead singer is from. I adore this song because at the very beginning it's entirely pure and gentle then gets rougher and more angry towards the end. |
The Dresden Dolls – Bad Habit Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The song reminds me of sex, even if the author (and it's obvious in the music) says it's about self harm. My favorite part: "and anyone can see the signs mittens in the summertime thank you for your pity, you are too kind" |
