Ha, I understand. Newer "Punk" bands are really missing the point. Punk emerged out of the idea to CHANGE something, but when you can't change something then what is there to write about? I actually have a guilty addiction to The Ramones.. Sure their songs were braindead songwriting, it's still got more balls and passion than half of the stuff out today. God Save The Queen is my blood pumper, hehe. ANarchy In The Uk is a pretty good one, but I am addicted to Holidays In The Sun Too. I, for some reason deeply care for the way the bands lived their lives, etc. I get alot of shit as well for calling myself a "Punk" and listening to a WIDE variety of music. But really the music I listen to has the same connotations of punk.. Ilisten to Reggae, The Clash (Kinda a genre of their own), etc. And it suits me fine. Punk isn't just three chords and a fast delivery, in my eyes it's the message that counts. And musically anyway works fo rme :). |

Crass were a great group, by the way. I love Crass, myself. I can't see how you say "London Calling" is not a punk album, though. Some of you talk about punk being about unity.. And that's what THe Clash were. London Calling was an album full of varied musical styles. Did the songwriting change? NO. The Clash were always a punk band, they did not change there. Punk is not confined to Three chords and a whiney singer, it is (Should) be much more. The Clash expanded that with Reggae, Rockabilly, Blues, Dub, etc. The Clash were punk to the end. Just defending my band, nuff said. For the record, I do enjoy Crass- but they got their story wrong on The Clash. The Clash DID sign to a major-label (CBS) bu that doesn't make them sellouts. DId hteir music change because of it? No. Did their career change yes? Honestly, where would London Calling be if it weren't on a major label? |

Crass were hypocrites, they said "So and so" weren't punk, they were hte "Punk police." That Stab they took at The Clash in this song really pisses me off. Sorry Juggy, I thought that you were just another kid on this site who referred to The Ramones as the only punk band out there. Some people on this site annoy me, my apologies. True on the fact that most people do associate The Ramones and The Sex Pistols as the only punk bands, sure gets on my nerves. PUNK in itself was a revision of rock n roll, and I am personally a huge fan of punk. It to me, is rock and roll in it's purest form. The Clash are still my favorite punk band of all time. Hell their my favorite band, period. I get pissed when they don't get recognition like The Ramones and Sex Pistols do.. Meh, sorry again. I'm just a die-hard, bastard fan. I don't get why so many people associate punk in the early 80's, but yeah some do. Funny thing, Sex Pistols weren't even around in the early 80's, lol. Johnny Rotten walked out of their final show in 1979 and they were no more. You should listen to Crass, their not bad. The Clash are kinda my favorite band though. My apologies, again. |

Juggy.. You need to also bring in the CLASH. WHat the hell is up with typical American association of punk and forgetting The Clash. Wow, that gets me steamed. The Ramones wrote braindead pop-songs for 20 years without changing their style at all and were just a shitty group. The Sex Pistols were put together by Malcolm Maclaren and were just his outlet for fashion and money. They were NOT a punk group by the mindset. Anarchy will get us nowhere, so saying "Punk" is a mindset of anarchy really doesn't get you anywhere. You need to hear The Clash before you speak, honestly. Crass was a true Uk Punk band in the 70's.. None of this Sid Vicious bullshit. He COULDN'T play bass and I'm glad the fucking yob is dead. And that little cunt, Nancy, too. |

Mick was always the punk-rock proto Keith Richards arena-rocker type musician. He wrote "Train In Vain" for example.. Do you think our boy Joe woulda written that? Not a diss to Mick.. I love 'em both, but I prefer Joe's style. Sandanista! Is a highly underrated album in my mind, it's kinda like Neil Youngs "Trans." Combat Rock showed some of the Who Arena-rock protoge(Sp) in Mick.. I can't say they "Sold out." Even if you do THINK they sold out.. Their music is better than half of the crap I hear out today. The Clash are and always will be the best band in my mind, but think what you want. "White Man In Hammersmith Palais" is a lyrical gem by the way.. We need more comments on it. |

The Shins aren't too bad, I've only heard like three songs though and that's cuz of Garden State, aren't I a little whore. I loved "New Slang." I agree wholeheartedly with Shadow, Crass, Dk, The Clash (My fav), dedicated themselves a whole hell of a lot to their music, that and I LOVE The Clash. |

Shadowwiththeeyes, I love you. Lol, White Man In Hammersmith Palais is my favorite Clash song. They got abuncha greats, Pistols were the "Louder" ones in some sense though, I understand perfectly. Strummer and the Meskies work wasn't the best at times but I kinda liked it, a good comeback :) Too bad he didn't get to enjoy it fully though :-\. RIP Joe. |

It's their music let it be...Death Metal is NOT intended to be synonimous with teddy bears and flowers...I'm not a fan of their music, but it's their right to do what they wanna do, and write what they wanna write about, just as I do. Some of you say this is vile, is that because it hasn't been bent to be accepted into modern society? Moral questions have come up behind this song..Could your morals be the exact opposite to them? Vile, and disguisting? I applaud these guys..I find a respect in the fact that they talk about what they want, even if it is slightly unnerving. I'm not too big a fan of the deep voice either heh, but it's their stuff, not mine. CC is rather talented musically, they can play fast. The singer has to have some of dedication or talent to make that voice unique. I'm weirded out by all these people getting pissed off by this song, it's really rather amusing. And also, the George Carlin Wal Mart thing is bullshit, Wal Mart is not supposed to be a fucking censorship bureau. |
