this song rocks so much. I think it means like...if you're having problems with your friend's, but everybody's acting like it's nothing, you need to be the one to step up, and make a move. Cast the first stone to end the silence. I'm speaking purely from experience because I'm in this spot with my friends. "Hands on your eyes are the agents of demise" is an important phrase because it says...if you all pretend like nothing is wrong then it will all eventually destroy you. |

I feel that this song isn't about being a spoiled brat or a "slave" of "society". I think this song is about how we have in front of us all the makings of an enlightened existence, but life is so complicated and everyone is struggling to find out who they really are and you can't exactly order enlightenment off of ebay. To know/make yourself is the meaning of life according to me and it can be so hard to do that which is why it is the meaning of life and it can sometimes feel like a chore. That's what I believe! |

To me this song is about how we have in front of us all of the makings of an enlightened existence, but you need reason. You don't all of a sudden decide one day that you're going to be enlightened. It comes to you. It is really hard to find ourselves in the world this day and it almost feels like a chore because humanity is more intricate nowadays and there is so much more beyond anything you can think of that you begin to search frantically for meaning in everything. I think that this song tells about how in relationships with friends or lovers or whatever, talking isn't obligatory and that sometimes when you don't talk, you establish a sense comfort. Have you ever just chilled with your friends and not said a word, yet still just had a great relaxing time? Another meaning I got from this is that when you're silent, you can observe so much more in the world and in other people as well. I've noticed that lots of people think this song is about sex. You are all crazy nymphos and need to realize that sex is not life, yet the lyrics do seem suggestive ;) |

Amazing vocals on this song. My take on this is how some people have to buy the best of everything. For instance, a new watch, but that $3000 watch is still going to tell you the same time as any average wrist watch. Also, some people who are so material obsessed and everything for them has to be perfect and sometimes better than everyone elses. I specifically like the line where he says We do the same thing every night I swear I've heard this song before A swimmer who has seen a shark I should really be more wary of the water I too agree that he was being used in some way and he remembers how it felt to be used by someone/anyone and he feels that way now. That would make him sound conceeded and it looks like he hates (conceeded) people like that from his lyrics. | I think this song is about how friends can sometimes get so close that they don't realize when they're stepping on each others toes. Brandon suggests that instead of taking the easy way out and quitting the friendship, that you just step in you're friends shoes and realize what you're putting him/her through. Sometimes even the best of friends can get their feelings hurt when they are told the truth from another one of their friends. The truth usually hurts, but you probably think they are being malicious on purpose and think they're walking with "razorblades for boots" because they are cutting away you're self esteem and it is easy to do the same back, but it probably hurts you friend to tell you the truth hence "they'll never be as soft as they seem". | This song is nothing but great. It really shows the maturity of Brandon at such a young age. It's so easy to think that you should bite your tongue in an arguement with someone, but arguing is a very malicious thing. It can sometimes bring out stuff in you that can make things worse. I think that it should be stressed that Brandon's advice claims that you should not keep silent and get walked over, but to just take an objective view to your situation. Bide your time, make the best decision, and always try to be the better person if you can. | |
