dancer in the dark is the greatest movie ever. I love this version even more than the movie version, since thom rocks my socks. this song depresses the hell out of me every time i listen to it but i just can't stop....so beautiful. it's about a woman who is trying to justify the fact that she needs to get help to fix her son's eyes instead of her own because he needs to be able to see the world, and in her eyes she is past the point where her sight is necessary. |

this song is so fantastic. i love driving down the road when i'm feeling depressed and just playing this song really loud singing to it. courtney has helped me so much over these past few months just by listening to her. each of her cd's works with my different mood. pretty on the inside is when i'm angry, live through this is when i'm depressed, and celebrity skin is when i'm feeling ok, except for northern star, which is another depressed song. the fakeness in this song reminds me so much of what i've been trying so hard not to be. it reminds me that i have to be true to myself, even though that's not the real meaning behind the song. |

I think that this is about Kurt, even though i usually hate it when people say that all of Courtney's songs are about him. But, the line that says when you're in the whirlpool and they try to suck you in seems to mean that Kurt's rockstar lifestyle was what killed him because of how much he hated it.
