Cover art for Jigsaw Falling into Place lyrics by Radiohead

i think a lot of people are partially right in how it’s about meeting someone at a club and never getting past that initial connection. but i think there’s alot more to this song than just that. it’s called jigsaw falling into place for a reason, and if the song is about finding imperfect matches at clubs that wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense. i think the songs purpose is fate, whether it’s good or bad. the lyrical medium to bring this across is a representation of a man meeting a woman at a bar/club of course, but i think it’s trying to say that a connection like that is meant to happen. all these random human connections and conversations leave you with a little something, fate is just doing its job to bring two people together. not every single person is perfect for you so naturally that initial connecting string is broken. it’s just fate doing its job. the jigsaw is infact falling into place in the eyes of fate when two people who don’t know eachother begin talking at a bar. even the music, chords, and the way thom sings just perfectly encapsulates the feeling of noticing an act of fate in retrospect. looking back and realizing all of the dominos that fell in order to get you where you at, to get you to what you’re currently thinking, to get you to what you’re currently feeling. if you’ve ever experienced that feeling of either regret or gratitude when facing consequence, in my opinion it can only be described as cinematic. just how i think this song sounds insanely cinematic. like a movie just playing out. the soundtrack matches perfectly to the film.
