Here's a second comment then! I think Ferry is one of the most underrated lyricists, perhaps because he's too subtle, like a poet. I've noticed that every one of his solo non-cover albums has one reference to literature or film eg The Chosen One appears to be about DH Lawrence, and others like Alphaville, The 39 Steps and this one are more obvious. Here he's not referring directly to the book or movie but tapping into their essence, the need and courage to take risks; there it was relating to space travel, here to love. That's my take anyway.
