The song is about the psycho-spiritual transformation which takes place when one journeys from Boy to Man. I don't believe the core message of the song is 'enjoy yourself while you're young, you have plenty of time to grow up', as I have read others mention.

Rather, the song and this portion of the film depicts the long, difficult and painful path to growing up. You make sacrifices. You must develop patience, skill and discipline. In acts of faith you look to the skies for divine inspiration to guide you along the right path. You will fail many times, but in doing so will gain the strength, understanding and wisdom necessary.

And once you do become a Man, once you reach the peak of the mountain; all the things you dreamed of, the visions that you saw, will be yours to claim, and you will be a pilliar of the community surrounded by and connected with those you love.

@robsmyrl I just made an account for your comment, it’s what it is and really nice, thank you very much!
