Chris Martin has always had a continuous theme in his music: flight. Well, it seems to have really begun in 2008 with the album Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends and the line "Now my feet won't touch the ground" used in two songs and the title of one of them. From that time on, flight was his thing. Again in 2011 with the release of their 5th studio album "Mylo Xyloto", he again referenced flight. Such songs as "Up With The Birds", "Us Against The World" (with the lyric "and if we could float away, fly up to the surface and just start again, lift off before trouble just erodes us in the rain"), and "U.F.O."

Again in 2014 with the release of "Ghost Stories", a short album released just shortly after his divorce to now ex wife Gwenyth Paltrow with whom he has two children, the theme of flight continued still. Most notably in the very last song on the album, titled "O (Fly On)" the lyrics "A flock of birds hovering above, just a flock of birds, is how you think of love? Still I always look up to the sky and pray before the dawn, 'cause they fly always, sometimes they arrive, sometimes they are gone, they fly on." the birds of course as previously stated being a symbol of love, and the art for this album and even a music video ("Magic") have doves, a common symbol of love since the Greeks gods and the dove's affiliation with Aphrodite, goddess of love.

Again with the release of A Head Full Of Dreams, released early December of 2015, the theme of birds and flight was present, along with Diamonds. Second song on the album titled "Birds" with more lyrics about flight, and diamond, a stone formed under pressure.
