I definitely have it flipped then other people on here. I see it as the narrator seeing (technically the song is gender neutral) an ex girlfriend, crush, or even old friend. The chorus reminds me of when you bump into someone in public that you haven't seen in a while.
The guy in the song clearly still has feelings for the girl, romantic or not, but he indicates a certain amount of bitterness, "Take me to where you are, what you've become." He suggests that she has changed. She is acting like nothing is different
