Suggests to me that perhaps some people use the context of their religion to excuse or justify their actions. The narrator / singer seems to not want others to "abuse" the words of religion as they want their faith to hold meaning to them and their name, and not be tarnished by the justifications of others (who use it to fight wars, kill others etc.)
