"Houses Of The Holy"

[Let me take you to the movies. Can I take you to the show] [Let me be yours ever truly. Can I make your garden grow]

"Let me take you to the movies", "Can I take you to the show", and "Let me be yours ever truly" are simply metaphors referring to Led Zeppelin's performances on stage and their music. In the phrase "Can I make your garden grow" the use of the word garden refers to the songs a person knows. For instance a garden is a collection of different vegetables as is a garden of songs is a collection of a lot of different songs. When the lyrics ask to make your garden grow they are simply asking you to listen and enjoy their music. Led Zeppelin are entertainers wanting you to listen to their music and come to their shows.

[From the houses of the holy, we can watch the white doves go] [From the door comes Satan's daughter, and it only goes to show. You know.]

From the houses of the holy is metaphorically referring to self righteous religious people who use to condemn rock and roll. Houses meant the "consciousnesses" of the self righteous people. White doves referred to innocent people who would go watch these concerts and when they came back [through the doors of their homes] they would be under the influence of what was referred to satanic music. You know ... simply means you know how the self righteous think. It's simply joking about their absurd views on rock and roll music.

[There's an angel on my shoulder, In my hand a sword of gold] [Let me wander in your garden. And the seeds of love I'll sow. You know.]

There's an angel on my shoulder could have been lyrics inserted by Jimmy Page due to his knowledge of Satanist Aleister Crowley who claimed he had an angel who guided him. It could have been used metaphorically to help express the absurdities of some people's opinions about rock and roll at the time and how people thought it was influenced by satan. In my hand a sword of gold could have been in reference to their musical instruments in which they performed with. *Let me wander in your garden. And the seeds of love I'll sow" simply means let them entertain you and create new and entertaining songs for you to know and enjoy.

[So the world is spinning faster. Are you dizzy when you're stoned] [Let the music be your master. Will you heed the master's call] [Oh... Satan and man.]

So the world is spinning faster. Are you dizzy when you're stoned and Let the music be your master. Will you heed the master's call This refers to the drugs that goes with rock concerts and sitting back and enjoying it despite public opinion from people who viewed rock music as satanic. Oh... Satan and man "Ohhhhhh" is drawn out to represent the crying out of people who strongly oppose rock music and Satan and man is what the crying is referred to [satan mingling with man through music]. The lyrics simply expressing the crying out of people who are against rock and roll and how satan is using music to influence man. The next verse is built on this idea'

[Said there ain't no use in crying. Cause it will only, only drive you mad] [Does it hurt to hear them lying? Was this the only world you had? Oh-oh]

Was this the only world you had means was it these peoples only mission in life was to try and destroy public opinion on rock and roll music? It goes on and says there's no use in crying about it and to not let the idea of rock and roll drive you mad. It's not that bad of a thing. Does it hurt to hear them lying refers to satan and anything satanic. Satan is referred to as "A Liar". Association with rock and roll music is what was refereed to when they said Does it hurt to hear them lying [does it hurt to see people fall for what the self righteous thinks is satan music]?

[So let me take you, take you to the movie. Can I take you, baby, to the show.] [Why don't you let me be yours ever truly. Can I make your garden grow You know. ]

The last 3 verses may be the same as the first 3 verses but what they seem to imply here that the author of this song has proven that the self righteous religious people who view rock and roll music as satanic are just delusional and that the music is okay to enjoy, so now will they let you entertain them and listen to their music. This song is really a song about thumbing your nose at the self righteous religious people who wanted rock and roll to go away. It's meant to be a fun song is is perfectly expressed by Jimmy Page's choice of guitar rifs.

[correction] so now will you let them entertain you and listen to their music.

@Dmerck yo you nailed it

@Dmerck sir you are very wrong and your one of the naive and blinded masses. Music started with drums and inducing hypnotic trances to summon the unseen world. Tens of thousands of people singing along at concerts is a kin to huge energy and focus all upon words which we use letters to spell. MAGICK is very real and a power most think is total BS. Summoning entities is very easy and they are very willing to be called upon thus the warning not to make graven image of what we see in the skies, upon the earth in...
