To me, this song is all about longing - a recurrent theme in quite a few of The Corrs' songs - and lust.
The story told by the lyrics is one of a short but explosive romance which is suddenly broken off by the man, only to leave the girl wondering why.
The girl is still angry about the break-up and has difficulty getting over it.
Yet, when she meets the man again she wants nothing more than to throw herself at him.
Being too proud to do so - just barely -, in her mind she asks, or even begs, him to "give her a reason" to lose control.
Her body is weak, here make-up is off, here defense is down, she is completely receptive to any advances he might make.
She is really just hoping and waiting for even the slightest initiative or hint of his to fall into his arms.
That is my opinion, anyway.
