I always felt this song was about childbirth.
Aphrodite, lifting up her dress & child, feeling herself fading, feeling like she doesn't belong in comparison to 'that girl', loving 'design', etc..
It's about the wonderful realization that once your child is born, all focus on yourself & your own wants/needs shifts to your child, who becomes infinitely more significant than yourself..
Anyway, this song is possibly THE best song ever written. EVER =)
