I think the correct lyrics are "bus" instead of "buzz" and "of rakin' leaves and picking up all of your empties", as in empty beer bottles. Also "band" isn't plural, I don't hear an "s" in the recorded version. :)
This song to me is about getting older and visiting a party they went to when they were younger at the same place, his old friend not even able to recognize him.
