I love this. Kate, obviously, is in touch with her inner child (alright, verging on immature. But can you really hold that against her?) and has no desire to be held down by this fellow's serious and egotistical nature. (She never liked him as much as he liked himself.)
Many lines (You put a helmet on my head/ You want to make me dinner/ You will like the way she dresses) show her partner picking at her faults, trying to change the person that she is.
He is also quite sure of himself, believing what he wants to believe and not seeing reality: "You to read your fortune, I'd rather you just read the news." (The line about him needing his glasses also refers to this blindness towards her wishes, and their underlying incompatibility)
In the end, she is refusing to let him suffocate her, and telling him quite clearly to walk away rather than dragging her along ("I'm tired of these miles"; and the resounding "Walk right out of the door")
Anyway, this song makes me smile. It also makes me want to don a yellow raincoat and jump in puddles.
I think that Kate should be streamed from every station:)
