I think this song is about a one night stand. The guy tries to run away saying that he was
"packing his bags like a bat out of hell" and he felt bad so he wanted to repent at the "downtown mass,
where the spirit fled" meaning his conscious or soul led him there.
This song could be about the girl that he usually writes about, Anna, but it is not for certain.
I think that the girl wants to be back with him again but he says that it will have to wait,
possibly because he is not in the right position spiritually speaking to have be with her.
