Been a huge Van fan for a long time. Sort of stumbled on the album (The Healing Game) that this song comes from by accident. Not many people have heard this album, but after listening to it just once it became my favorite Van - if you are a fan, I STRONGLY recommend it. However, like a lot of Van songs, the songs on this album seem to have a lot of personal meaning that is extremely difficult to understand. In Waiting Game, it seems Van explores a long time relationship (rerferences to fall)and the demons and angels he brings to that relationship The lyrics and the music just tumble together, making it a very easy listening song (as are a lot of the songs on this album), good enough that you can sort of let it wash over you without even thinking about the meaning of the lyrics. Great music, great musician.
