I'd like to believe this song is definitely about the message, "can't we all just get along?"...and possibly drugs may help.
Most of it is the worst recipe for cake in the world, rivaling only "Die Eier Von Satan." The rest of it is the cake as a metaphor for her love for her son. They seem to have a disharmonious relationship and she hopes a peace offering will smooth things over. Except for when she digresses to the 60' and how the war was bad but people did LSD and life went on. "C'est le vie" here I think has more of the "shit happens" tone. Which makes me feel the subtext to that is also that one must not take life so seriously, hence all the incredibly strange ingredients of the recipe (the last addition of course is pot). And let's not forget the conclusion that her love is "moldy."
