I reckon it was suicide, but I don't think that the writer of the song particularly cared for her. I think he knew her because she lived on his road, and maybe he talked to her every once in a while, sees her writing her 'own death letter' on her front porch or something, heard about all her suicide attempts, but was sort of attracted to the thought. He describes her as 'delightful', not exactly the most romantic of words, so I'd say he just had a bit of a crush on her, in a wierd louis XIV way. They're odd anyway. I think that the upbeat tempo and happy feeling to this song accompanied with the creepy lyrics is what makes it so good. My favourite at the moment! Rambling comment :)
