Cover art for Sorry Son lyrics by Cranberries, The

looks pretty straightforward that she ended her son's life in the womb. it sounds like she was under pressure from others ("And isn't it strange how people can change, oh And isn't it weird how people I feared They all seem worthless now") "i had to be cruel to be kind" sounds like the propaganda people pressuring a woman into abortion give. "i wasn't the same without my brain": refers to the mindstate she was in at the time, of course

'I had to be cruel to be kind" would NOT support abortion. I'm quite sure the baby (who had a heartbeat and brainwaves at the time and thus was a growing human and not a ROCK) would not consider death an act of kindness. This song could be about anything that caused a parent to be seperated or even emotionally distant. I'm going with adoption because it's the least selfish gift an expectant mother can give her growing child. (Yes, in your eyes I'm self-righteous. I'll wear it proudly on this topic)

Not Valid

@losethetudedude Let's say you have to chose between being raped and being killed. One would completely end your life, but the other would keep you alive, but suffering, destroyed forever. What's the worse? Sometimes, it's the exact same thing with abortion. What would the baby prefer? To die, or to live his entiere life in some bad situation that would make him suffer even more? I agree with you on most things, but I still think that sometimes, it could be an act of kindness.
