Cover art for Seabirds lyrics by Pink Floyd

Circling above the raging sea As the tide comes rolling in Seagulls watch the crashing waves Calling as they wheel above the bay A seagull searches out its prey

As the daybreaks softly on the eyes The owl leaves the lightenings skies Silently returning to its sacred haven Disguised amid the forest's trees Feathers ruffled in the morning breeze

Gathering bits of old plastic bags Amongst wiry brambles and thorns The cardinal searches for anything at all For, hidden inside the vines along the fence The mother cardinal makes her nest

The poem started as just writing something about seagulls, because they are seabirds, and I was really disappointed with this song.

As I said before, it's about the basic instincts that all animals share, which are (in this order in the poem), food, shelter and reproduction.

I don't claim that it's excellent, but it is unique in the fact that it's the only poem I have ever written that is not dark/gloomy/the human race is going to kill itself and I want you to know about it in subject matter. This is the only purely optomistic (or at least not-pessimistic) poem that I have written. For the others, think Final Cut/Animals dark, or Roger Waters solo dark. That kind of dark.

The poem isn't really finished, I revise all I have written every so often, so in several weeks this will be different. However, this is around the 10th or 15th revision, so it is pretty close.

Sorry about the wait (I try to respond promptly if I can), but my access to a computer has been limited lately, and I forgot that I had made the offer to post the poem. It was pure chance that I saw your request, reptile.

I hope you enjoyed it more than you enjoyed listening to the massacre of a song with loads of potential that this page is dedicated to.
